I’ll never forget when I saw him at Firefly, after doing this song and announcing that the girl that it was about had just gotten engaged, the crowd stared chanting “fuck that bitch” to which lil dicky said “if you’re one of the people saying “fuck that bitch” you missed the whole point of the song”

I remember when this song first came out. I didn't see the aisle scene coming. The setup was so flawless. Then she passed and I immediately was hit with a gut punch. Whats so amazing about the beginning is after watching this and knowing what you know the opening has such a different deeper meaning. It's crazy well written.

11 years Brendon Urie still at that damn wedding

Fact that it´s supposed to be a true story out of his life, makes it even more heart breaking. Heart breaking, but damn it´s powerful.

I was maid of honor at the wedding where my ex married my best friend. I planned her bachelorette and their reception, I helped handle the families (they both knew me, after all), I gave the first toast after their parents. And then I went outside and cried, cried, cried, cried. And then I snuck around the building to get to a different bathroom, fixed my makeup, went back in, and was there for my friends. Because sometimes shit doesn’t work out, and sometimes my heart gets broken. But eventually I had to decide if I wanted to live in the past, or if I wanted to live right now. If I wanted to let things that happened years ago destroy relationships with people who care for me now. And so I chose to forgive them, and move on. I’m glad I did.

8 years ago, on the first day of college, I met this girl at freshman orientation in Oregon. I was instantly attracted to her from the first moment I laid eyes on her. She was gorgeous. We quickly became good friends and had a really solid friend group. We all would hangout and spend time together every chance we could. We were both busy a lot because she was on the volleyball team and I was on the baseball team. Sports took up a lot of our time but we still spent a lot of time together. I was in the tail end of a relationship from high school but it was clear that it was coming to an end soon. One night, she told me that she had feelings for me and I remember being extremely shocked, happy, and disappointed. Shocked, because I never thought she would be into someone like me. Happy, because it made me realize these feelings that I have been keeping locked away since we first me. And disappointed because I was getting ready to end a relationship and knew I wasn’t in a place to date. I never told her about my feelings, out of respect for my relationship that was coming to an end. We ended up breaking up very shortly after that which was going to happen regardless of if she confessed her feelings for me or not. Not long after my break up, she met another guy at our school and they began talking. I wanted to be supportive and knew she was worth the wait so we just stayed friends. However, talking turned into dating and they became pretty serious. They ended up dating for about 7 years until they split up recently. A lot has happened since then, I ended up transferring schools and we slowly stopped staying in touch. She ended up moving to Kansas City to be a high school math teacher and I stayed in Oregon and became a pilot. The whole time they were in a relationship, I never was in one myself. I couldn’t find anybody that gave me the feeling that she did. My heart says finally tell her how you feel, take a chance, and go for her. But my head says don’t, it’s been too long, she lives on the other side of the country and she doesn’t feel that way anymore. I really really hope that there’s a chance for us, but it just doesn’t seem like the universe will give us a chance. My advice to anyone reading this that has feelings for someone else but is too afraid to tell them how you really feel, is just go for it. Time moves quick, and you don’t want to end up like me, wishing you took a chance and did something differently. Suffer the pain of putting yourself out there now, or regret later. I used to listen this song with my girlfriend almost all the time while we were driving through beautiful sunsets or at night, she really enjoyed this song. A few months ago she went to Europe to stay there for a while and after giving my all to support her in her decisions and stay together, We broke up today... now I know I have plenty long days to listen to this song and remember those days together:(

Man… I’m years over my ex, but this song always brings back the feelings I had knowing I’d see her somewhere with her new boyfriend, because she also happened to be a friend of my sister. The nerves, shaking, nausea and all that shit, trying to get it together on the toilet before entering the room on birthdays and stuff. Dave displayed all that really well in this song and video!

His beat about listening to her auto tune and laughing reminds me of a similar scene from Dave. You know that shit is a real moment for him and it touches my heart when I hear it.
