“Shorty in the stripes” is the singer Mary J Blige. Lil Kim has told the story about the day they filmed the video for this song, Mary J Blige was going to be in the video but she was going to be in the background throwing money or getting a massage because she didn’t have a verse. But as time went on while on the set Mary got hammered drunk and mid filming the scene where they’re all in white dancing on the white floor she just went up and started dancing with them even though she wasn’t supposed to. But Kim and the other ladies didn’t mind so they just let her stay up there with them. Mary J and Kim have always been really close, if you watch the footage of the day of Big’s funeral Kim comes out of the funeral home screaming crying and could barely walk she was so distraught. Mary J was the one that was there with her the whole time, she did her best to comfort her and take care of her, doing her best to keep her upright. (side note: notice there is no footage of Faith upset and having to be helped around that day. Being Big’s widow you’d think since she loved him so much and got married after 8 days, you’d think their reactions would be reversed 🤷‍♀️)
