Right. Love to keep picking at the scab. I believe people keep on with that because she has such a light about her, it aggravates their darkness. She’s good genuine people.
Let me reiterate since one of y'all sensitive behinds reported my comment DID SHE MENTION GOD HUH, STOP FORCING YOUR BELIEFS ONTO OTHER'S JUST LIKE Y'ALL SAY 🏳️🌈WE DO🙄
Idolized them and received a reality check a good one. These little kids don't know jay z was number 3 or 4 after Tupac, biggie and Nas! He only was on top when pac & biggie passed.
@@peachesandpoets y’all worship these people like they will pay y’all bills 😂. Alicia helped a man cheat, and don’t get me started on Jay. Oh but they are so godly. Y’all weird idolizing them. They don’t care about you this much 😌
Rappers use to always invite other rappers on stage during their award show performances. I remember when Jay-Z invited Snoop, Nelly and their crews onstage during the 2001 Bet Awards while he was performing. That is probably where Lil Mama got the idea from to jump on the stage with him years later!
We ALL REMEMBER that night because of HER ! She was just living in the moment as a child ! Jay could have changed that narrative BUT he didn’t! That shows us what type of character he has ! Let this woman LIVE AND THRIVE AND not have this EVENT carry any more on her shoulders!! Continue to be blessed !! ❤️💐 amazing actress as well
10 times worse. I'm surprised that Lil Mama's incident could even be remembered considering it was the same night. I thought the two incidents happened years apart
@ReddReigns08 my point exactly he was down bogus for that sorry ass move he made, what's even sad about it was when The Breakfast Club: Chalamagne amitted to inviting her on their show just to make her CRY during that time she was GRIEVING after losing her MOTHER at that! That's ok bc God got her and still blessing her that's why Jay Z is facing his KARMA to this DAY! 💯👏🏽
Yeah that's what it was. And I understand why he was upset. At the same time his ego has to be huge to be that bothered by it. I would've been happy someone felt that moved by the song. Both Kanye and Jay though have been extremely disrespectful of others though. But it's okay for them.
I agree! If she did not do it , the performance would not be talked about. She was in the zone !! The song is New York Theme Song!!! Should she have known better yes! But shit , Jay and Alicia should have addressed her directly. And help her growth from it,being leaders of hip hop!
Right. I think it’s something they should have been able to laugh at later. Say something like, “girl, you was crazy because it threw me off, but I can appreciate you being inspired” or something of that nature. But the ridicule in general was absurd.
She presented what Hip Hop needs. Genuine love. Emotional connection to the words. It's her state and she was in a New York state of mind. I loved watching her get on that stage.
@@dominiquejones3805how about Kanye and Jay being disrespectful to other award recipients and no one giving a shit. She did a dumb thing but the intent was love. That's the point. And she made the performance memorable. I don't get why people don't just admit they never wanted to rate Lil Mama so they used the opportunity pouncee on her and to this day you all acting it was that big of a deal.
She learned a valuable lesson : Everybody that smiles in your face AINT YOUR FRIEND. THIS WHOLE SITUATION SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT THEIR CHARACTER MORE THAN HERS.. PEOPLE ARE USERS IN LIFE, THEY WILL USE YOU. THEN DUMP YOU FOR THE SMALLEST OF THINGS, THEN THROW YOU AWAY. THEY COULD HAVE LET THAT GO OR HANDLED THAT DIFFERENT IF THEY REALLY WANTED TO. JUST LIKE WILL SMITH. THEY LET HIM SLIDE AND HE DID MUCH WORSE. SMH WATCH WHO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH, AND THINK THEY'RE YOUR FRIEND.👍🏽🙏🏾
You def are a girl you not thinking logical thinking with your bird brain feelings she wasn’t supposed to go up their simple you thought jay z and Alicia was supposed to stop performing just to welcome her please
Alicia shaded her afterwards though. I was a little upset on how Jay Z handled that situation, can't lie, but I guess he felt like she messed up a huge iconic moment. Imagine if he would have embraced her instead of trying to make her get off stage. No one would have ever thought she was out of line, and would have saved her from one of the most embarrassing moments in recent time.
People exaggerate what she did in the event. Shit was cool to me. Long as she didn’t make them look stupid or fuck up they performance shit was dope. The media blew it up and made it an issue
Yeah the gossipers, bloggers, and comment sections. And was it cool to you then, or did you ever join in on the making fun parade at any point with your friend group?
Is it worth stoning her over? No. Is it worth still talking about almost 15 years later? No. But was what she did 100000000% disrespectful to the other artists on the stage? It most certainly was. The backlash she received back then and the embarrassment she felt about it was precisely what she ordered off the menu. She was young and did a foolish thing. We ALL have. My concern is that it still bothers her TODAY when it should really be water under the bridge.
Never Go to The Shade Room, when you are trying to heal...it's... *"The Shade Room,"* where bitterness, jealousy, and hatred go to fester, grow and digivolve to it's Mega level
I like lil mama, but you can jump on stage when somebody practiced and rehearsed for a major prefromance....regardless of what you may think or feel inside, you can't pull shit like that as a adult....that's not the way life works....
All Jay Z had to do was down play & hug that young girl. Her mom passed less than a year ago & it would've said & done SOOO MUCH 4 her. Even after he didn't have anything thoughtful to say about her
💯 Thank heavens there are decent people who understand this. He could have played it off easy. If they had been cool everyone else wouldn't have had a reason to be bothered.
Exactly, instead he left her with the wolves, he easily could’ve gotten her pov afterwards , talked to her as a mentor and could’ve said to the media, it was a misunderstanding, the ending of the performance wasn’t planned, but I talked to her and we’re cool now so leave her alone, simple.
I respect that she is so self aware, she can take constructive criticism. And she faces her mistakes head on. I honestly don’t think she should have been blackballed at all. Maybe scolded a lil lol. But blackballed was dragging it.
When u try to bully ya way in, on somebody else show! She knew exactly what she was doing! She probably was paid to do that! That could be takin as a threat!
@@LovelyTi-jt3gn I agree completely I’m not making excuses for her because it was ridiculous what she did lol. But at least she did take accountability that’s all I’m saying.
The girl had two hits and was a judge on a dance show. She did not have a big career before that. I remember when lipgloss came out and a lot of hip hop stations would not even play it cause it was not hip hop. She was not gone ha e this long career either way
@@devanshepard9118 that definitely makes sense, the girl didn’t have a leg to stand on anyway that’s probably why this happened to her as opposed to someone with more longevity like Kanye West getting away with what he did to Taylor Swift.
I believe she genuinely thought it would be a great moment for NYers. She just didnt read the room well, and it ended up looking ut of place. It reminded me of people who propose at someone else's celebration. It caaan work, but it's also weird to try to make someone elses moment about yourself. She's changed and grown and that's all that matters.
And no other NY artists was on that stage. So she didn't really have a cue from anywhere. She just got in a head space.Cause if she performed with them before I could see her feeling to go up. She was just young and not trained. But it happened for a reason
@@KMill-xb3uc Riiiiight! You hit the nail on the head. I agree training needs to come back. Proper media training can curb tone deaf moments like this. Yes, everything happens for a reason and she seems like a strong woman. I hope things continue to go well for her. It was a mistake and she deserves forgiveness.
I thought jay and Alicia were super wack for getting offended that 1 young lady took to the stage and made it a real hiphop moment. Didn't try to snatch the mic, just basically played the background dancer, hype man. ❤🔥😎
They have the right to be upset but the fact that they allowed her to be black balled to this day is crazy to me. One public word from Jay z. And it would have been over
@@fmc2973 Jay and Alicia both forgave her publicly when she brought it up a couple of years ago. The fact is no cares about this anymore except Lil Mama and she should stop talking about it.
To me the moment of her jumping on the stage was funny nothing more or less. The fact that its still being talked about like some tragic event is just bonkers! It really wasn't that deep if that moment caused a downfall for this super talented young woman. Lil mama is super underrated for what her talent actually gives.
@@BrandonSmith-rb1bf it was YIKES, I agree but I still laughed like haha she is goofy for that. I literally couldn't believe the fall out after the fact like damn, the most I'll give it is her being goofy and embarrassed. They trashed that girl like she killed somebody smh.
The media made this a huge issue, bc it’s based on the notion to treat Jay z as god … so they want ppl to think it’s very disrespectful. When in all it’s a damn rap performance
She didn’t have a career “downfall”. How dare you say that to her face. She’s still fire and working and staying relevant. Her career isn’t nowhere near finished. She’s way too talented.
Over for 15 years ago her star was rising, NOBODY is checking for her now nor is she the topic of the conversation? Unless it's about this moment, so yes she did have a downfall
I wish she never acted embarrassed or ashamed of what she did. I swear ray J would’ve found a way to capitalize off this. She gotta stop letting this ish get to her
I'm a NYC girl from South Jamaica Queens. Real Talk, Lil Mama helped that performance and the head nod between her and Jay was genuine AF and looked like it was part of the show! Great interview and thank you for not interrupting her while she spoke! We had an opportunity to hear her and listen to her story. 😊🙏🏾🤗💕💕👍🏾👍🏾
I don't care about that Jay Z stuff. She apologized. All I know is that she's a great actress.I.....I want to see her in more movies......... Black Equine Forever.........
Lord at this point she is living the Jayz alicia keys thing to the ground..but LIL MAMA video "Get loose" was so oconic and futuristic..not even ONE curse her flow was unmatched at the time.
I pray they let her heal and let this go !!! You are bigger than that one moment . Ready to see her on the big screen again . I loved that prison movie she did .
I really like Lil Mama. Always have. Very intelligent, articulate & TALENTED!!! And she’s drop dead beautiful. I also respect the fact that she has heart & drive in her.
I have never been really involved in idolizing celebrities, a fan girl, or team this team that…. None of that. I think it’s because both my parents worked in the entertainment industry since the 90s and ALWAYS taught us not see these folks as anything other than another person. It’s a shame to now look back and see how we as AMERICANS sat back and allowed this horrible ppl to ruin folks lives. We watched as they blackballed, harassed, and picked apart good ppl. Lil momma, Justin Bieber, Brittany, Amy, Marilyn and the list goes on. She was a child and she deserved grace. Being on that stage, around her people, who she looked up to was never meant to be disrespectful! It’s also sad to see how she still holds respect for them and pays homage. Lil Ma I just wish I could hug you! I honestly believe God saw who you were as a person and said Hollyweird is not for you! It’s a blessing! Look at how all these folks are dropping like flies. You didn’t get caught up in that web!
When I was 19 my friends were performing at some community hall and I did what she did to JAy And Keys . I honestly thought I was being appreciative and supportive , they were so good it moved me. but! Yeah afterwards people in neighborhood talked I’m telling you.
I hate this for her . Jay Z was dead ass wrong for carrying that bs the way he did. He a whole weirdo for that. Now she going to live the rest of her life with ppl holding that over her head and her feeling that moment .. ppl are so cruel smfh
@@Marcpluggedwiththecuban3Alicia didn’t care or notice fr . Jay was pissed about it . He did several interviews about it and basically gave the green light for the industry to dog pile on her
I don't know about blackballed but Alicia did kind of talk bad about her crashing the stage when Alicia was on one of the morning shows. I was like dam.
I feel you lil mama, too do something so genuine, a with love An it was a meet with rejection fucks with a person! So congratulations too lil mama for doing the homework on herself!🙏🏾
Listen i met lil mama years ago i think my daughter was around 7 or 8 not sure shes 19 now here in Miami lil mama was the nicest person ever i seen her at the mall she was by herself shockingly mama she spoke to me first lil mama was so dam cool yooo she's not how ppl think she is. Very respectful she was telling me how beautiful my daughter was and we was just small talking cool person i literally just watched her movie on Tubi she did a great job yall need to let up off her ❤❤❤❤❤
Why does she have to relive that incident every time…. Let’s talk about how beautifully she played the role of Lisa Lefteye Lopez!!!! She literally embodied her and it was brilliant!!! She definitely made me super proud!! Love u Lil Mama🩷
I love lil momma!!!!!! Some of yal grown azz ppl can learn from her! I am so sick of ppl jumping on other folks band wagon! You are a gem lil momma! You are spitting facts! This interview was fire. I appreciate you empathizing with lil momma!
I thought I would have seen more of her after the TLC movie on Lifetime. She’s a talented actress. In my opinion, In all, she wasn’t marketed enough after the “event”. The event probably could have elevated her career. Its what people remember her for.
I understood what was happening. Growing up in performing arts and in Brooklyn we get on stage often with the artist. Even Jamaican performances everybody gets on stage and stays on stage while the show is going on. It is about spirit acknowledging spirit. Its a culture thing. We often change our cultural norms when we are in "other" spaces but when she went on stage she was bringing us (her community) up with her.
I want her to keep talking about it so the tables can turn fully around on them so they can start getting the real pressure they should have got for Like blackballing her, and not having her back, people not treating her like a young lady etc. They should feel that heat.
I hear what you saying but unfortunately in The industry it’ll only be worse for her that industry is cutthroat and jay is one of the biggest I wish mortality was a part of it but it’s just not
She's been making it worse by still speaking on this silly moment 15 years later. Nobody blackballed her. Jay don't speak on shit and if he do he put it in the music. Alicia don't talk too much either. They also are not contemporaries so why would they reach out to Mama bc she was wrong? If Mama would've let it go. Made a joke when ppl asked her about it and brushed it off this would've passed long ago.
Honestly Lil Mama made it Better and she did what any true New Yorker would do. I’ll be the 1st to say that she looks like she belonged in pic 💯.Jay is goofy, Alicia a home wrecker and Lil Mama is talented, humble, gorgeous and still got time & room for more success. ❤
@@melissalsmith883yu not a child either so wtf yu doin the duck lips nd acting like one in ya videos!?🤔 With ya old A🤬🤬 eye brows!!! Go do some yoga, eat some yogurt nd shut your mouth, Dnt forget to clean ya dentures🦷
I'm proud of her. I didn't see what happened first hand I only saw it on social media later. I'm glad to see she bounced back and didn't allow the negative to hold her back. I think she's a beautiful and talented woman, not just in looks but in mind and spirit. It's hard to stay strong after the loss of a parent. I've lost both of my parents so I understand that struggle. Much Love.
It wasn't worth getting black listed. Somebody said Jay waited a decade to comment, the whole time lil mama gettin drug up and down social media.🤦🏾♂️💀
He could have played it off and made it part of the show. I thought he was a bit wrong for leaving her hanging out there like that but at least Lil Mama continued on in her career
I don’t think we give this young lady her flowers enough. She’s a great rapper, and actress. I’ve watched several movies with her in it. Drop the name lil mama and rebrand yourself. I pray for your success. You have fans that are rooting for you.
It's so sad how they're still talking about that and she was a kid. But I think she is so real and down to earth and I really like her and I wish her all the best.
This interview is so well done. Handled sensitively, but the gentlemen also probed to find out where her boundaries are concerning the discussion about the incident. Handled well by both parties in the interview. Love her authenticity.
