@@jen2x873agree. He might not be looked at the same he did 10-15 years ago..but he’s still pillar in hip hop as we see now. Most of these old rappers stay away and don’t deal with new school. Whereas Wayne he’s smart because he understands this overall is hip hop and even the younger generation is our peers so he does songs with them and he also doesn’t charge anybody a lot of money because he does business as he wants a percentage of when the song releases and blows up. I tell people ALL the time: if we as people say you’re not great or not the same, but EVERYTIME you drop a sequel in ‘Tha Carter’ series or sequel in the ‘Dedication’ series and we the people STILL run to go listen..clearly you’re still untouchable and relevant.
@@porkchopnu4096Facts. Back when substance was actually cool. That’s why Eminem and Wayne both praise each other for still rapping with substance. Coast Contra is a dope new group on the come up. Should check them out if you haven’t already. 💯
He still got me when he said speed boat, white ( or wife ) beater, ballin like Derek Jeter for every Ceaser, that testa roast get ghosta like you never seen her. No i know it's not the greatest Wayne line but it's only Wayne that comes to mine when i think of him. Who says something like that. He has me puzzled and hype over that verse for years now. Like since he made Diamonds and girls lol
I have to tell people from our generation that sky is the limit wasn't his song. That's was Mike Jones' song but they jam the Wayne version so much they either never knew or clean forgot.
@@djgillum8381 If you've been listening to rap since the nighties, you've heard plenty of rapper preceeding Wayne say "Get it straight"/"relaxed like a perm"
i wish this post played more of the track cause the ones on here down playing it are hating on it, every line or bar was a scheme build up to the next line or bar especially at the end of the song, if the young dictionary bars referring to different type of woman. he definitely killed this better than Jay did and that’s the point.
“Only down south rapper coulda been in The Firm/ or The Commission or Wu Tang n*gga, tryna tell you I could kick it like Liu Kang n*gga”🔥🔥🔥BRUH WAYNE WAS OUT OF HIS MIND 😂😂
@jesusflores7099 Wayne has good tracks, but I agree. People are so quick to hop on and praise average rhymes. For example someone like Mos Def was in his prime around this time...light years ahead of Wayne sonically, lyrically, everything really. He just didn't have the same commercial success so when you bring up the argument it's always invalid..
@@lethalassassin1754 it's not just about lyricism or everyone would be calling Cannabis the goat there's a lot that goes into that. Nobody would deny most def was a lyricist at least real rap heads
This is why regardless of certain projects, Wayne is simply top 10 all time. His mid 2000’s run was one of the best runs of any artist, any genre, ever.
Im sorry but if we talking pure lyricism and wordplay which is what I listen to Hip Hop/Rap for Wayne is top 5 all day. A lot of people give guys the spot in the top 5 based off nostalgia but they werent really spitting like that and they dont have even close to half the catalogue
DAMN! Those bars sent tingles up my spine. Love this dude. This dude said "Got that Subzero flow how you want me ma, make her get over here like Scorpion." Sh** Wayne, he just Mortal Kombat that flow!
Your both wrong. It’s not off the top but it’s also no pre written He goes in the booth and thinks of a couple lines at a time then lays them down And does it again and again till the songs finished. Hence him “not writing” like he’d always talk about. But it’s not off the top either. You can watch interviews where he talks about this very topic. ❤
Can’t stop was pretty on par I thought. I liked how after all these years he still manages to maintain the same energy and craftsmanship in the penmanship.
The way lil wayne raps is just phenominal.Lil wayne can rap until he is 90 and still be phenominal with an ol man swag in his voice and make it work and still be in the top 10.
"No I want rings with my performance I'm more Kobe Bryant of an artist" They cut the part that tied it all together! Wayne top 5 dead or alive argue with ya daddy 😤
“Only down South Rapper who could’ve been in the firm “ Damn right with the way he was spitting , like a up north artist. Everything he touched was turned into Gold!
“ Or the commission “ I recently learned about that being a group that would’ve had jay z and biggie and maybe a few others but once big died I don’t think it carried out. If Wayne would’ve been in that group man ☄️🔥🔥
“like an up north Nigga”🤣😂🤣😂Wayne HARDER THAN ANNNNY NIGGA UP NORTH DOWN SOUTH,,, Ny niggaz are weird 🥲Run Dmc ain’t here to save you,,, Lil bitty bit ain’t even L L cool🙅🏽♂️😂🤣😂Son that’s BARS
@@dirtyd757lil weezyana vol1, da drought 3, no ceilings 1 and like the 1st 3 dedications were all my favorites I Fw his mixtapes more than his albums
@@KashmirKelly2325 no doubt. His verses over the Juelz and TI beats are still on my playlist. I wasn't even a fan of Wayne till that mixtape. Still not big on his mainstream stuff, but chains off-mixtape Wayne? Fucking fire.
“ best rapper alive since the best rapper retired “ ..:. Plus Jay went on to drop American Gangster, his most prolific album lyrically & a slept on classic
Im not a big hip hop head but his run of verses in 2007-08 was insanity....dude was killing every song he featured on. For at least 2 summers the boy was literally the best on earth.
“I must be Lebron James if he’s Jordan” The weight of that bar considering that it’s one of those bars that just got better with time. Sure it was a hard bar when the song came out but now??? It’s so much harder considering what Lebron has accomplished since then. Wayne a prophet 😂
@@MrFlameRadthis is just a line. You don't have to reach. In terms of comparisons with rap and ball. It goes Jordan = Jay Z, Lil Wayne = Kobe, and Drake = LeBron.
When wayne hit i loved him. Then went through a period i wasnt a fan of a lot of his shit but then after c5 that shit really shows how talented this dude is. Along with all his other albums and other work for the most part but c5 the lyrics were next level
