I watched these guys in 2018 in Ankara, Turkey. They are definitely one of the best technical death metal bands. Bassist Jacob and drummer Lille are especially good. But definitely every episode is very successful in itself. Also, Max Phelps vocals in the Dharmata section are very good. The Disposal of the Dead/Dharmata album is the ultimate in themselves. My opinion.
Was supposed to share the stage with this monster on Friday. Oh well lol. thanks for sharing this video! Kicking back watching this masterwork. Lille is perf 🤘🏼
Also, was Tom playing the entire set fretless? It sounds like some of the solos are on a fretless guitar, but some of these rhythm parts are totally inconceivable to play fretless in a live setting...
No. This is the same band. They did a full length album comprised of 2 EP's. One EP was primitive and heavy (Disposal Of The Dead), and the other EP was this old school progressive death metal style stuff (Dharmata). They only played this material for a limited amount of time because basically they just felt like it and wanted to do something different for a short amount of time
Haha yeah...pressed for TIME. 15 minutes to get the whole thing set up. This is actually a drumkit that was VERY uncomfortable to play for me. Bill is a very tall dude and everything is designed for that....but that night I managed to approach it more calm than before.
Thx dude. I'm trying. I think its mostly the blistering fast dudes that end up sounding robotic. I'm not falling in that category. Basically u gotta decide if u wanna practise heel toe and blast beats all day or get into other things, like trying to incorporate the hi hat with the left foot. I've decided to develop those abilities more.....
Imagine being bummed about it when they were saying for MONTHS that's what they were gonna do on that tour. Plus it's still insanely good tunes, technical mastery.
@@MikeCaputo Oh I knew before hand, and was going to see them either way. But as of yet that's the first and last time they've been out here for a LONG time.
I'm confused. This doesn't even sound like the same band as on their records. Their albums are more or less straight up brutal death, what's this techy wanky shit with the high pitched vocals? :( Is this a different band with the same name?
They did a full album comprised of 2 EP's where one was super brutal (called Disposal of the Dead) and one was like this, old school and tech (called Dharmata)
their other stuff is nowhere near "straight up brutal death", all their stuff is tech as fuck. i tried to get calculated barbarity down from the chapters of repugnance album on guitar, it's pretty much impossible. also they have jazz side projects. extremely versatile musicians, all of them.
