A weekend update. Lillie is doing "ok" and the puppies appear to be doing well. Lillie is hyper-reactive and very anxious, and the puppies have added to her stress. She is not eating well, perhaps a food allergy or just stress. We are trying different foods and supplementing her with canned food. We have decided to NOT breed her again. She wasn't properly socialized, and we feel this is adding to her anxiety with the puppies.
Our doe is looking better. We haven't observed her eating however she is chewing her cud and is much more alert and her swelling and soreness is gone. We will continue her B vitamin injections and her propylene glycol drenches until we are sure she is eating. She is due with twins the end of February.
We cleaned out the paddock again and there is still quite a bit of snow. We ultrasound the second group of ewes February 1st so we wanted to clean the paddock prior to that task.
I broke the glass on the right door of the cab of the tractor! I was changing the bucket on the loader and was concentrating on lining it up and had the door open so I could see better. I forgot how close I was to the barn door and broke the glass. We will order a new one Monday. There's always something new and exciting on the farm. Thank you for joining us at Norwal Farm.
