You should have mentioned how good the fruit is, they are tasty and are very good for you, lots of people grow it for the fruit, and don’t forget the rose apple and wax jambu

We think Syzygium oleosum or Syzygium leuhmannii, but we think they are still better for jams etc rather than eating fresh

Why do the leaves of the tree rot when it rains? Please tell me the solution.

What would you recommend for a very fast growing hedge that could be used on the nsw central coast, but in clay soil

Depends on how heavy the clay is and how tall you want it. Acmena smithii, many of the Callistemon, Westringia, Acacia rubida, Leptospermums and Melaleuca plus Westringia. Check the out at you local nursery to see if they will work in your area.

It depends on where in SA you are and which species, Best ask a local nursery such as Heynes, or Balhannah.

Are the berries edible? We've had Lilly Pillies for years, this is the first year that we've noticed red fruit!

Yes, most species have edible berries, however they are not really that tasty straight off the tree. Usually used to make Jams and Jellies. Lots of recipes online.

They are edible and are very good for you, full of antioxidants. They are tasty and are a lot like the rose apple and wax jambu as they are from the same family.
