I found this song at perfect timing. My ex and I have been trying to make things work between us for the past 8-9 months. We got together, broke up, got back together, broke up again, and then became really close friends but still acted like we were together. That whole time, he was very toxic and verbally abusive towards me and when I would tell my friends about it, they would try to get me to realize but I couldn’t due to my anxiety and guilt issues. I would always think everything was my fault and I’m the one who would end up apologizing. A couple days ago, he went off on me on the phone as usual but this time, my friends could hear him and he had no idea. After he hung up on me, my friends told me that I hadn’t said anything wrong and they made me realize that what had been happening wasn’t my fault. He then texted me that he was sorry and then I sent him a final text saying I was done and I blocked him. Not even more than a couple days later, I find this song and it’s been helping me a lot. Even though I still miss him, I’m getting to a better place mentally and I now realize that I deserve better.
