I have the original 93 black and gold edition, that was my first Megazord in many years. I managed to get it brand new on Ebay for 80 bucks a couple years back, I believe. No stickers applied or anything. As soon as I get paid I will be picking this baby up!

Call me old-fashioned or no fun, but colored variants do very little for me. I realize it's not taking anything away, it's just...I want my toys to be the things I see on the show. If there wasn't a Black and Gold version of the megazord on the show, then I see one in the same way as I see the endless line of motorcycle toys...cash-ins. I mean, this is clearly well made, and for whatever reason black and gold Megazord toys seem to be something of a tradition. But the thing my eyes kept getting drawn to was something you didn't even mention in this video, that beautiful Engine DaiShogun. That WAS seen in Go-Onger (wish we'd gotten it in RPM as hard as that might have been to explain) and I love stuff like THAT.

***** I'm the same way in most cases, but at the same time, I'm sure many collectors would love a separate shelf or case for cool and/or fancy looking variants. Was there ever a chrome silver Predazord or Isis Megazord? No, but who could say no to anything so shiny? And sparkly when you add LEDs? YES! Black and Gold Megazord, yes please. Metallic and Gold Chrome SPD stuff...? oooooo! Some of these things just look awesome. They're not for my regular display shelf (minus Lightspeed/RPM) but they can go somewhere else. I didn't need the SDCC Dagger or Saba, but the Megazord is nice.

***** It's definitely a situation of to each their own. Strange weird shinies don't do it for me. Like, for the Legacy Megazord, the original release was the OOOOH for me. Metal, paint apps, but looking like the show. If I hadn't already grabbed the 2010 MZ, I would have needed it.

GrnArrow092 There are many more that aren't pictured, and many other variants in addition to black and gold. I've even got the clear translucent ball set from Hurricaneger, and green versions for Abaranger, as well as some very shiny chrome wild zords. I didn't want to take the focus away too much from the Megazord the review is about though. People are already asking for reviews on what I've shown so far.

Honestly I'm not surprised by the comparison. Basically dump in black dye as opposed to all those colors and paint the metal bits gold. I'm betting its actually cheaper to produce the Black edition more so then one with 5 different colors at least. Of makes it all look great to my eyes.

Nate's Productions It would have been neat to see the Dino Megazord fight in that fashion once...Kimberly's not available so she can't summon the Pteradactyl. It's something they did do in Dino Thunder.

This was the first Megazord I got that was based of the original Megazord. I never had one from the 90's as I was born 2 years too late and I never got the first version of this mold nor did I get the original Legacy Megazord.

Me when they first announced the black and gold version - "Man that's so stupid! Why don't they do something new instead!" Me when my black and gold megazord shows up at my doorstep - "Holy crap its here! Best impulse buy ever!" I guess I have no right to complain about whatever Bandai's doing anymore lol

KajiRider1997 Check out this video for Kyoryuger! He's in the entire video, but especially 6:18. There probably aren't many collectors who have this many variants w/o knowing about others. I have more cool things that aren't in this video.

These Japanese exclusive black and gold repaints of existing super sentai Robots are probably about as rare as this thing is. I’m still trying to get mine now. Should’ve gotten it a few years ago.

***** you can still get the life-force megazord on ebay but they all have bits missing either the helmet or sword or both. I painted second hand light speed and solarzord ones to make them look like the one in the show, painted the sword and removed the canons.

ChicagoMarchingBands Make your decision keeping in mind that Bandai is thinking about doing Dragonzord and Titanus as well. And should they do those, would you want Megazord too? By then he'll be going for the guaranteed fortune on eBay when everyone needs a Megazord to have their Black and Gold Ultrazord.

Great review! Also wanted to make a suggestion and I hope I don't give off the impression that I'm trying to tell you what to do! But I thought it would be cool if you reviewed most of the zords you had, like the main zords of season 1-__ and do it in those kinds of segments, and then you can do like 6th ranger zords of seasons 1-__ and Special editions etc. etc. etc. Does seem like a lot of work so I completely understand if you dont but I just thought it would be a neat idea

My rerelease doesn't have knee problems, it's the hips that give in and I don't know how to fix that. I thought of using some fishing line and tie it to the back of the Megazord on one end and the other pulled tight and tied around the Tail of Titanus. Lol

Okay so I just realized the Legacy Megazord is a bit smaller scale than the original one, kind of bummer. Which would mean you can't combine that one with the Dragonzord from the past you would literally need to buy the Legacy versions to combine them that's good to know though.

While it is a great looking version of the Dino Megazord, for us in the UK, this is currently the only version of it being sold at Toys R Us (and in the UK in general), and don't get me started on the Legacy Power Morpher... Well, at least eBay's a thing, right?

Jon Crane There's really hardly any gold on the original... at all. There's no lime on the Legacy Black & Gold Megazord. Check out the shots when it's not reflecting green from the LED shining on it.

Ok will do. You must admit though, that the stickers are a lot better on the original. Especially the triangular patterned sticker on the chest plate.

Jon Crane I'm not sure I love the type of stickers they've used for this... but it's otherwise very nice. Reprolabels and BD15 usually do replacement stickers anyway, which sometimes include details the toy never came with and they might offer different finishes as well. The chest sticker probably bothers me the most. But when I say that, it's still a fairly minor complaint.

Max Power Unfortunately, had they never done the 2010 Megazord, we would have gotten a totally new Megazord for the Legacy line, that did have a better mold and more articulation and probably no stickers. But then again, it's possible they never would have released a Legacy Megazord if they didn't have that 2010 mold, which did well, leading to new and much better Legacy Zords once Bandai realized it could be a line. I wish too, but didn't really expect them to release yet another version of Megazord so soon. :-/

Anthony Martinez Here's one way you can do it too. Every year, things happen at exactly (or close to) the same time. More seasons than not have premiered in February. Future toys are always out in late November. 6th Ranger toys are usually summer. When I have a question, I follow the patterns and there is the answer.
