oh there is always a reason for a thumb down. lots of guys don't like to see fish die... who knows why they click on a fishing vid!!?

This is a very solid "with-what" and "how-to"- tutorial. A lot of pointers here definitely worth remembering. Its nice to have all of this information now, which could save years of learning and acquiring on our own. Really good content here.

Great video, it's so awesome you have the wife and kids along. I've been fishing for over 60 years, and i never knew, or asked what that little v clip on the reel was. Now i know, thanks for the tip young man. It's going to be useful to me. I'm going to purchase some of your lures from on the internet. Once again, great video, and it's good to see the next generation of fishermen/women fishing, or just with you.

Love your videos. Keep them coming. I purchased some of your perch fly rigs and they are dynamite. Now thanks to your tips, I have to refine my filleting techniques. Your safety tips are also great, especially for people coming from out of state that are not familiar with our LG ice conditions which can be treacherous. Nice job!

Good job getting those kids out Dad! I hope they got a chance to land a few too. I use a scud bug fly about a foot up from a Hali or other spoon, but you have to be careful that you don't get it caught on the edge of the ice.

Now I live in East Tennessee so no ice fishing for me "Although I have been Ice fishing a couple times in Minnesota " Do you guys sell any warm water baits that work for perch? I know we have some bodies of water down here with perch and that's one fish i have yet to catch. Anyway again great video man.

thanks Wade Fisher! We are working on a softwater tackle box. i love chartreuse curtail grubs with a tiny piece of worm in the summer.. or a worm under a slip bobber. the perch are much more active in warm water and willing to eat more easily. Thanks again for the Sub and thanks for watching!!! my vid of Don's trip should come out next Friday. I hope he gets to brake the 1000 sub mark.

I love perch! I never had a problem catching them in Lake Champlain as a kid. The problem now is I have zero luck where I live now. What do you suggest for a rig to use in the spring and summer in northern Wisconsin? Any tips, suggestion and help would be very appreciated! I checked out your shop and did not see a package with everything you use (except for the rod/reel) including the Lite Byte Spring Bobblers, all connected and ready to go. Do you offer this? I really am a novice.
@RogersRigs
@RogersRigs 4 года назад
Thanks for watching and commenting.! Hannah really loved your note. I guess if you are starting out on the ice and you are looking at our products i would at minimum get glo perch chain jig, a finesse rig, a fly rig, a spring bobber and the Lil tons package. that covers the basics. then i would buy 2 relatively cheep rod reel jig pole combos at any local sporting goods store (not need to spend over $25. but also buy a spool of 4 lb test Stren clear blue original mono-filament line. the line on those cheep jig poles is usually bad. too heavy and too much springy memory to feel the fish bite. If you are looking for effective jigs and rigs for perch in the spring and summer, We are working on that! we should have another summer line available my April and we will make starter packs available then too. Thanks again and please stay in touch! -Roger

@@RogersRigs I have a great spot I use big bait so I DON'T catch the little buggers. 20"+/- bass are not uncommon! You put little shiners on and you catch perch. Which I guess isn't all that bad!

@RogersRigs
@RogersRigs 5 лет назад
that is a vexilar scout, but marcum and aqua view made good cameras too. i would not get a camera combined with the sonar like that one. it is the same price to buy 2 separate units and then you can move around with the sonar and leave the camera in the shanty. It is really fun. we see lake trout, pike, bass, its the best tv show and there are no commercials!

@greenke1
@greenke1 3 года назад
How do you attach the nymph to the main line with the little tag line?
@RogersRigs
@RogersRigs 3 года назад
THanks for watching! loop the main line and tie the loop in a double overhand knot. then cut the loop and you have a tag line and the loop becomes the mainline down to the drop shot. you need to use a little heavier ling to keep knot strength, i use 8 lb for the finesse righ and 14lb for the fly rig fluorocarbon is best. and lubricate the knots as they draw tight.

North basin is tough this year. south basin is just a better perch fishery. all that 100' laker waters of Hulets and north just does not feed the perch. and all the years of spotty ice has cut the fishing pressure way back. Driving anywhere in the south basin is almost certainly worth the time. Generally perch do seem to run in year classes. Its hard to walk away from biting fish, but if 5 dinks in a row come up, probably 50 more just like it are down there. check out navionics. its a free download, shows lake george in 1 foot contours and spots you on it. look for sunken islands on 30 foot grass beads. 20 to 25 feet with 30 to 35 around it tends to collect some of the bigger ones. also once we get a little melt, the bigger ones will move in shallower. look for the broad leaf weeds instead of the low grass stuff. that could be in 12 to 20 feet. the bigger ones will be hanging there soon. it really pays to punch a lot of holes and keep looking until you find the bigger ones.
