Some raw and uncut footage of walleye fishing on a local lake in central Minnesota. It was a sunny, low wind day on an ultra clear body of water, but we still knocked out a limit in this video!

Realistically, if you catch a limit of walleye in a couple hours on an average local stocked walleye lake, you’re doing well. Edited videos don’t always do a good job of demonstrating that fact.

This has been one of the more informative videos I’ve watched on catching fish with live scope. This structure sets up just like home lake and are seeing the ability to read the sonar better with tips from this. Thanks for posting this! Also, I would say perfect eater is 16-18” anything else should go back. Though you’re on a stock lake, still feels unsettling to see a 19 or 20” fish in heavy pressured small bodies of northern mn be taken.
@NickLindner
@NickLindner Месяц назад
I don’t disagree on the harvest deal, Ben. If I didn’t have a shortish window of time to get a limit for a fish fry that evening, I probably would have tried to select for some more moderate sized fish. This lake is stocked with a lot of fish though, and tons of fish get pulled out every week. It’s doing alright there (for big fish too). Thanks for watching. I thought this would be a fun one, as most stocked walleye lakes in Minnesota kinda setup like this.

I wanted to ask you a question about drop shot. I used drop shot on a lake where there are gobies on structures. I have the live bait about 2 feet up off bottom and these gobies keep taking my bait. How do you avoid them stealing your nightcrawlers?
@NickLindner
@NickLindner Месяц назад
That’s tough. I haven’t fished live bait on a dropshot in gobie lakes. My instant reaction would be to use leeches, minnows or plastics instead of crawlers.

Nick is your live scope transducer on your trolling motor? I see no pole.

Yup! Trolling motor. It’s easier for me to be efficient with the hands-free trolling motor strategy
@Jay-bp9bh
@Jay-bp9bh Месяц назад
Have you tried or thought about getting a separate mount for the transducer so you can spot lock/search for fish without moving the boat? 🥦
@NickLindner
@NickLindner Месяц назад
That’s how I had it rigged up when I first started using FFS. Obviously it’s a viable option, but I prefer the trolling motor as a hands-free option and I don’t have any issues moving around and positioning like that.

@Jay-bp9bh Месяц назад

It’s not in my near future and have no interest, I was super excited about it at first but now everyone on the lakes stare at a screen, they run right up on you, seeing that there’s fish around you, I could have poked a guy in the eye with my rod tip last weekend he rolled by so close.
