@@vinitakaushik4796 because his body could no longer cope with the aggressive style from 2014. He really struggled with front court movement and explosive rear rear court movement. I think he had major knee problems.
One legend on his way out VS a legend in the making.. that's the beauty of racquet sports. Lin Dan's past his prime, lacking in speed and power but has immense experience and amazing footwork playing against a much younger, stronger and taller opponent. Every lob to the back of the court becomes a 3 quarter shot because of Axelsen's reach. Lin Dan's strategy is to slow down the game and force the opponent to play to his tempo while the younger and hungrier Axelsen is trying to ramp the game up.

Put him into his category, with a 20% increased size of the court, and lets see how good he really is. He's just a tall baby boy who gets emo whenever he doesn't get what he wants.
Lin Dan conserved his energy for the first two sets and played Tai-Chi with Axelsen, then sped up in (the second half of) the last set to finish him off - true legend!
Watch Lin Dan for 2 decades. This match seems like he is in slow motion. And it's impressive that Axelson can move that fast and very skillful, he is 194 cm tall!

I remember steen once said that lin dan was lucky in this final against viktor as it was clear that viktor was playing the better of the two and overall controlling the whole match.
