At a buffet, I personally sneak corn into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 boiled corn ears in my jacket pockets. It is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corn thinking they were part of the buffet.
It's not aimed at "most" of us. dCS in general is already in the niche for those who have this kind of disposable income. & like many things, can come with a payment plan, which most of us aren't strangers to. Just like Wilson Audio isn't affordable by "most" of us, doesn't mean they aren't popular or sold out or whatever. Esp since the speakers are only the tip of the iceberg of spending.
Most things aren't "worth it" based on price alone. Judging by price never works out as we force the products into a category they had no interest being in to begin with. You can throw the same few hundred quid/bucks towards Apple, Mont Blanc, or Meze headphones & get very different things. For Apple it's about the ecosystem/loyalty, for Mont Blanc it's status, for Meze audiophile sound. Things are worth whatever we are willing to pay & however we end up justifying it. The HE-1 isn't so bloody expensive purely because of quality, a big chunk is towards high price being the cost of entry, as it's not for everyone & ergo special. You'll be hard pressed to find someone who plunked that money & followed it by saying it wasn't "worth it", otherwise they'd be the biggest idiot of them all. So that price must be justified or it would truly be a waste/scam. Same for most motorcycles/cars/homes/etc. which suck up money round the clock.
If price is a concern, you are not the customers targeted by dCS. Haha, my budget for the whole headphone system is about 1% of the Lina and I am enjoying it.
@@chinpinhon As long as you’re enjoying the music, other gear & headphones don’t matter. Trust. Chasing the Dragon can be tiring & sometimes not worth the time. But I do love the Lina stack (just borrowing it currently). The resolution, the timbre, the refinement, the versatility, etc. Sublime.
At some point everyone sees what shilling is like. Especially the price to performance ratio of this recent release. Sure it is a dCS, at that price they could have given us world class numbers, but No!
