It's nice to finally see a review on this machine. I've been doing research as I plan to buy my fisrt engine driven welder and this one caught my eye a few months ago. I've looked and looked and this is the first review I've seen. Thank you

Great job! Nice equipment and shop.

Another big difference is that the ranger is CC/CV, and the eagle is not. But, if you don't have a plan to run a wire feeder off of it, then the eagle will work just fine.

Nice video man nice welding trailer rig I’m fixing to build me a welding trailer since I’m getting away from my rig truck some. One thing I will suggest to you is centering the welder in your trailer to balance things I’ve seen trailers dog tail bad when the welder is off to one side like that.

How well does your Ford ranger tow it?I’m doing a welding trailer it much smaller. Just enough for bottles and my trailblazer. Great video.

It tows it pretty good. I definitely know it's back there, but it's not making record times on the highway, going 70 with it is asking a lot. Main thing is that I got it balanced well, welder and tool box in the front, and bottles, leads, hoses and scraps behind the axle. My ranger is a 2001 with a 4.0L so it actually has some decent power. And it's a 4x4 so if I need to get it up a hill in loose dirt or rocks on a job, I can put in 4-Low and make it go. But I also got my big truck for longer trips, I usually don't wonder too far anyway.

Ranger has cc/cv big difference it’s heavier duty

Does that small print say “with global parts” underneath made in USA on panel? Is frame doors ext. made with fairly heavy duty metal or is it flimsy?
@louieaparicio2613
@louieaparicio2613 3 года назад
I never noticed a lable like that. The doors and panel are pretty sturdy. I'd say that 20ga or 22ga. They are not flimsy at all. But the hinges not super heavy duty but they are fine.

What are your settings for different rods?? I bought a Ranger 225 and am just learning....tried to find a simple chart how to guide on rods and what settings (dial positions) to use, but i cant find anything
@louieaparicio2613
@louieaparicio2613 2 года назад
Well the answer is: It depends. Material thickness, welding position, rod type, and rod diameter, all the normal welding variables change the settings. The welding I do, can almost always be done with a 1/8" rod. I've used 5/32s and 3/32s but it's rare for me. For me welding mild steel between 1/4" -3/8" I usually stay in "second gear" 145 Amp setting and on the fine tune dial I generally stay between 6 and 8/9. But like I said it all depends. You can power something like a grinder and weld at the same time, but you'll need to turn the dials up for more power. Hope that helps.

I mentioned that some in one of my older videos on my Lincoln ranger 225. You divide you gear(left knob) by 10 and that is how your range (right knob) so say first get goes up to 90A you divide that my 10 and your right knob each number will be going up 9 amps. Typically flat position I ring 3/32 7018 at 105A 1/8 at 125A, and 5/32 at 140A. 6010 I run only 1/8 and I run that at 90-95A and that’s the same for everything except vertical which I drop 20A for. You also have to take into account gear and range also affect arc characteristics on machines like this. Example 90A in first gear will have a lot harder arc(crisper digging into the metal more) than 90A in 2nd gear which will give you a softer(less forceful and digging arc)

Louie, how long have you been running your independent welding business? I have been doing something else my whole life and want to get into doing independent welding. I was run over on my 1957 Harley Panhead almost 2 years ago now and I am almost recovered . I still have 50 pounds to lose and I am walking much better. No more physical therapy. I have a Ranger XLT with the V-6 and 4x4. I swapped the bed out for a Flatbed that looks great!! I am going to mount my MIller welder on the back along with a 50 gallon gas air compressor that I just converted from electric. I have a manual hydraulic crane that can handle 2000 pounds but I intend on mounting a 5,000 pound crane as soon as I can find one along with outriggers. I also want to mount a drill press and a large vise along with a 2.5 foot welding deck off the back bumper. Any ideas or suggestions to make my endeavor easier would be appreciated my friend. Are you in Pennsylvania?

Hi and thanks for watching. This is a side hustle for me. I work full time as a Safety professional for a major automotive manufacturing company and I'm in San Antonio Tx area. At work I teach a lot safety trainings and my interest have always been working with my hands and tools, that's essentially why I started making videos. I'm not a certified welder or anything but I learned a lot growing up on a small farm and working on a 1200acre ranch all through my college years. My thoughts for my side hustle was to build a name through social media RU-vid and Instagram, (free advertising) and do side jobs on weekends and evenings. I get several calls a month, but rarely turns in to a paying job. Well, they could be paying jobs but I don't always have the right tools,I get calls for sheet metal welding on car panels, exhaust pipe for cars, or aluminum I can't and won't do those. I feel like any corner muffler shop could do that, but I don't have a lift. My focus is try and do fence or gate entrance welding, tractor implements, or trailer repairs. I also post pictures of my jobs and work on Craigslist and OfferUp. I hate Facebook and refuse to use it, but if I had one Id post there too. My day job funds my tool purchases and my tools let me do my own projects and side job here and there to get some extra beer money and keep me moving.

They are called Denz connectors you can also get tweco connectors any serious air gas welding supply should stock them...you'll need to get both sides and attach them to your leads I also reccomend making a whip for the stinger and ground.

This machine is air cooled. No coolant tank. You have to make sure it has good air flow around it when mounting it.

How heavy is the machine?
@louieaparicio2613
@louieaparicio2613 3 года назад
514lbs (233kg). I had to look it up and I also added a link in the description to the machine spec sheet. Its very heavy, you'll need a loader or a crane to lift, too heavy to lift by hand even with help. It has a heavy duty lift eyelet on top that is robust and well placed, perfectly balanced.
