Part one of a three part series of videos of Lincolnshire Steam and Vintage Rally 2019, held at the Lincolnshire Showground.
We start by looking at the vintage commercial vehicles, with numerous lorries in attendance. We then have a look at some of the vintage cars and take a closer look at a couple of models that my relatives have owned in the past.
We then walk around the traction engines as they are brought off the lorries and have their steam pressure built up in preparation for the parade. We see how they are polished before this - the amount of work that goes into preparing these engines is astonishing!
After a brief look at the commercial vehicle parade from a distance, we watch some wood being cut, with the power for the saw being a traction engine of course! We also hear music from one of the several fairground organs on the showground to demonstrate how fairgrounds used to play music to customers before the days of CD's and speakers.
We then see the parade of miniature traction engines. I didn't hear the number for the day when editing the footage but it is normally around 100 engines, which is a very impressive sight. We also see 'Tiny' Flinton, the commentator, talking about how he has won a cup for his services to commentating. Unfortunately, I didn't see that he was stood outside on my camcorder's small viewfinder and thought he was still in the commentary box - it's a lot easier to see what's going on when viewing the footage on a PC monitor!
Finally, we see the miniatures leave the ring as the full size traction engines wait for their turn to parade.
