@@benostiguy7215 Vocal control, taste and originality, all in one package, the great Aaron N. Yep, lots of amazing talent from decades ago is fading from memory. I like even _older_ music too, from the '20s/'30s/'40s, and no one but a few of us eccentrics remembers the great talent from back then even _existed._ Thank god for RU-vid, and reaction vids!
My husband was buried 3 years ago today. This was played at our wedding. Thanks for this as I dry my face... the smile does not fade and my heart is so full...
The thing I respect about Linda in this is, other than her ridiculously amazing voice, is how she pulls back vocally when she harmonizes with him. The blend is the most important thing when you do a duet. And great singers know that. His voice is so incredibly smooth and unique; LOVE this!!! 😊🥰❤️🎤
Jamal, when Aaron showed up when Linda got a Kennedy Center Honor, her lip trembled & she teared up. She has dementia now, but when he started singing...thatcwas Pure Love between those two. ❤
EVERYBODY including myself, fell in love with Aaron Neville on this song...and we all wanted to be Linda! GREAT SONG!!!!!~And um J?We don’t know much either🤪but we know we love you too😎💜☮️
Linda Ronstadt was the god mother to the Eagles. She hired Glen Frey and Don Henley for her touring band. Frey and Henley wrote and rehearsed much of their first album in her living room in her Laurel Canyon home. This was where she heard "Desperado" for the first time and she arranged to cover the song just months after the Eagles had it on their album. Frey and Henley have said that her version of "Desperado" was the definitive version of the song. Through the years, Linda has touched and influenced and quietly helped dozens of musicians.
They won a Grammy for this song and this was their performance at the Grammies. He was so nervous when they went to get their award that he thanked Linda and forgot to thank his wife until Linda nudged him and reminded him. It was really cute. She also did a beautiful duet with James Ingram for an animated movie. She was on the Muppet Show too 😂
When intervied a few years back the person doing the interview said So you cant sing anymore? And she answered wih pure grace and only as Linda would, No I can't but I sing in my head.
20 years ago, people could kiss each no matter if it was black/white, women/women, back then it wasn't a huge big deal, this darn world today, and their touch me not attitude really sucks! This is what's one of the biggest problems with this world today. No Aaron and Linda were never an item, nor ever dated, but they were extremely close friends. That kiss they shared at the end of this song, was for the mutual respect they had for one another as main stream musical talent. I love this song, first time I heard it I was 32 yrs old in 1990. Thanks for your great reaction!! 😊
@@lisazaccardimeunier8378 Ohhh yes, listen to DaveBox G. Eva Cassidy is yet another who was lost far, far too soon; she died of cancer in 1996, and there are not a great many recordings of her, but what there is is wonderful. Particularly look up "Fields Of Gold" and "American Tune" as covered by her...
@@joeday4293 For a really lovely Emmylou track you may not have heard, hunt down "Only The Heart May Know". 1981 duet with Dan Fogelberg from his classic double album "The Innocent Age"...actually no need to go hunting...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0LufsRbefZI.html
Funny I just came on here to add Patsy Clone to the list and some one after these ladies Martina McBride and I am starting to get a lot of respect for Carrie Underwood after her how great thou art performance with Vince Gil
They were not dating but had great chemistry singing together. You should check out Aaron Neville's "Tell it Like it Is" and also his work with the Neville Brothers.
Her song with Dolly, Emmy Lou Harris where she sings the lead is unbelievable harmony between the three of them. The name of the song is "High Sierra" . More Chills for sure.
Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL song! This was sheer perfection! I'll never understand why Aaron Neville never crossed over into Super Star status. His voice is one of those that is TRULY one-of-a-kind; can never be duplicated. Such an amazing talent. Thanks for this wonderful video. I didn't get to see the original performance when it was broadcast, so this was a treat to be able to see it now.
She's so good at singing harmony. Check out her; Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton singing High Sierra. This was their last performance together. It may actually have been the last time Linda sang in public. 😪
Jamel... You are the REAL DEAL my young cousin... Here is how I know... I watch a few reactions because I am an OLD FART (LOL) and I remember & Loved these songs for many years ... Now I get to see how Young people like yourself REACT to these incredible, moving performances. I can tell that MUSIC hits you deep, and I truly enjoy your reactions. Thank you... Keep it real, God bless and be safe ! Ebony & Ivory CAN be harmonious. Peace
I first heard Linda on Armed Forces Radio in Viet Nam. I came back home and heard her music for so many years after that. Pairing with Nelson Riddle, Aaron Neville, Emmilou Harris, The Eagles, and so many others. And Finally her concert honoring her Mexican heritage, Songs of my father, Canciones De Mi Padre. There will never be another like her. She is a National treasure.
I bought this cassette they made together. Wore it out. I was obsessed! Linda is a doll. She has Parkinson’s but still good spirits though she can’t sing anymore. Awesome lady!
I saw Linda & The Neville Bros. on this tour at the Mabee Center in T Town & it was EPIC. Made me cry.....it was THAT good!!! Who knows if they were ever a "pair" but Linda has done duos w/ others & was just as warm w/ them. SO SO glad you appreciate them both!!
One of my all-time favorites I love their voices together and I love them looking at each other and singing like they truly are in love and what else can you give to a love song? Thank you for sharing take care and God bless you
There are a few who can still sing live well but it seems as a percentage they are much fewer. This is probably just simply because technology like auto-tune and other tech like it. Allow people that sound pretty good to sound awesome, but some of these technologies don't work as well in a live setting as they do when you're recording a record. Also becomes dangerous if it fouls up then suddenly everyone knows that you really can't sing. One of the cool things about social media is that it does allow that hidden artist who just sings in the shower to themselves a chance to show their gift to the world if they choose too. Teddy Swims is one example I can think of off the top of my head but there are quite a few others. And many of them I think end up making a decent living playing at clubs and other small events that they may never get famous but they get to earn a living doing what they love to do, and they can sell their own music easily enough without a big record contract also.
I have always loved his voice when he criever his voice makes me melt... My little brother took me to see him for my Christmas present when he did all the singing for Christmas on ice ... I loved every second of it...
Love your reactions friend and you’re right, music brings us all together. How beautiful was this? Linda Romdstadt sounds like an Angel and Aaoron Neville sounds like an Archangel! I could listen to him sing ALL day. His voice is unmistakable....he almost sounds like he’s yodeling, but the most beautiful “Yodel” you’ve ever heard. You should listen to and react to both of them singing “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”, it’s a classic and their voices are soooo beautiful together that it lifts you to another place. Just Do It, you’ll love it♥️
I met Aaron a few times in the 80's mostly once in passing at the airport in the late 90's, and have to say he is the nicest person you are likely to meet. His son got shot once, and it turned out he and his cousin/friend lied about how it happened. He had just bought the son a bicycle from the shop I worked at, and we had it for a check-up (free 30-60-90-120 day) and he called and asked if we'd hold it and how much storage (nothing, all the Nevilles that came in were good customers) and not long after, the real story came out. Initially they claimed it was a guy in a brown Chevy Caprice, turned out the cousin/friend (forget if they were related) had swiped the gun and they managed to accidentally shoot it, hitting Aaron's son in the back. The gun got tossed in the sewer, and a day or so later Aaron called again and asked about fees because it was going to be a while before sonny was getting his beloved bicycle back. 6 or 7 months later, he brought the kid in to get the bike. Made him apologize, loudly, to everyone in the store for lying, and then had him go back to the work area and apologize to the workers back there, and thank us for keeping his bike. Also, Aaron got gypped out of most of the money from "Tell It Like It Is" and when the record went Gold, the shysters at the label kept it, so his brothers and friends bought an album , spray painted it gold, and gave that to him. When Linda had her hit with it, she gave Aaron hers. One of the few things I miss about New Orleans is the music.
I'm sorry you don't miss more of New Orleans. I've never been there but have always wanted to go and I would DIE if I met Aaron Neville! Love him SO MUCH!! God bless him for making his son do the right thing! I LOVE that story!!
@@peggygibbons479 If ever you do visit. be careful, but check out the WW2 museum (It was the D Day museum at the start), Audubon Zoo, Mama's for food, (I can't give more than that as a lot of the good little places are closed, changed hands etc) and for spendier good food, Commander's Palace. Honestly, in Louisiana, most gas stations (if they have a deli/grill) will have better food than a fancy sit-down in the rest of the nation. For music, Tipitina's, Jimmy's, The Maple Leaf, Rock and Bowl, Howlin' Wolf, (some of these might now be closed down it's been just over 16 years since I left there) and a ton of other venues, some the size of a closet but with acts you can't believe are that good, play almost nightly. Check www.wwoz.org once things open back up for places to go. Also a decent stream for some NOLA music especially Jazz.
@@jpkalishek4586 Thank you SO MUCH for that info!! I watch all the food shows & I have 3 pages of N-O restaurants written down but I know it's a whole different world now :(
I was in my 20’s when these two singers were popular in the 70’s. You might also enjoy Linda Ronstadt singing a duet with Smokey Robinson -“ Ooh Baby Baby”. and “Tracks of My Tears”. Exquisite!
This is Grandma from Texas 🇺🇸Thank you for this. This song and this duo are the best. This actually made me cry. Thank you again for keeping these wonderful artists relevant 👍
Such a beautiful song and these two have amazing chemistry. Their voices complement each other and they each give the other room to shine. Must be in the top 10 of contemporary duets.🥰
