I sure as hell know who She is. Fell in love 1966, probably still am. Please do not tell my wife! As an aside, Willie a great musician and a very SMART MAN!
Lemme get this straight... A female latina singer with 3-4 guys backing her up, that sound better than most bands today over 40 years later that now have state of the art equipment and still can't touch the sound and talent? Yes. It's the performers, not the technology.
Yes, man. That's talent. Nowadays we see little. Nowadays they connect more in structures, big stages, investment in pyrotechnics, steel ropes for Singers to fly and stuff. Talent really, if you see little. Unfortunately
I WAS 10 OLD WHEN THIS AIRED. I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS AND THINKING 🤔 TO MYSELF... OMG THIS WOMEN IS SOOO BEAUTIFUL THEN I HEARD HER VOICE AND IT WAS OVER FOR ME. LIFE LONG CRUSH 😻... NOW 46 YEARS LATER MY HEART ❤️ SKIPPS A BEAT WATCHING AND LISTENING 👂 TO MISS RONSTADT. TODAYS SO CALLED TALENT COULDNT BE A ROADIE FOR LINDA.
I'm always so sad when I hear people say they've never heard of Linda. I'm almost 70, but I know of artists who came before my time. She was the first woman to fill stadiums. Her voice is beyond compare.
Same here , Linda just owns my heart, i can't explain it. Try listening to one of her rarest live songs from a tour with Emmylou in 1999. She just sings her heart out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KKIBCs6K7PQ.html
@@gtswann We also must pray for her. She has declared she is an 'activist atheist'. She needs the call out to the LORD JESUS MESSIAH to save her. 'Unless a man is BORN AGAIN he cannot see the kingdom of God'--(John 3.3, 33-34-)--
@@gtswann Thank you GT. The only decision in this life that counts for eternity is where one (free will) chooses; either heaven (must be BORN AGAIN--John 3.3) or lake of fire (Revelation 13). Just read her 2013 book & said she was mentally & physically abused in Catholic school; she saying she was an atheist 'by 3rd grade.'
This is therapy for a woman who was not a hip teenager and who missed so many opportunities to see Ms. Ronstadt perform live in the 70's and beyond. According to Ms. Ronstadt as expressed in her musical memoir, "Heart Like a Wheel" changed the course of her professional life. What a gift to see her perform it live when it was probably so brand new! Deepest gratitude for posting it and to Don Kirshner for giving these young artists a platform to share their music all those years ago. Still giving us pleasure!
I saw her 3x in concert during this period. She had the full package, tremendous talent, wholesome personality, great looks and from what her friends say, could drink you under the table. That’s a deadly combo!
@@livingadreamlife1428 Three of the best decisions you ever made! Never heard that about her drinking (Wonder how she did it, as she was a little bit of a thing back then), just know she seemed happiest when she was harmonizing with friends. Still tracking down all the records on which she contributed vocals.
There is posted on youtube an interview with Linda a couple of years back, at her house in San Francisco, age 72. Asked how she spends her time, she said she reads a lot of books. There was a shot of a stack of books she was reading. I noticed 2 of my favorite authors in the stack of books. And there I was, falling in love with Linda all over again.
@@fearlessleader1477 If you don't mind asking, who were the authors? I've heard her mention more than once Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness." She was and is endlessly curious about so many things beyond music. I am terribly sorry she lost her ability to sing, but am so grateful she can still communicate and think as keenly as she ever did. As I read comments like yours following her videos, I am struck how enduring her appeal is and how deeply her music is imprinted on people's minds and in their hearts.
@@lnl3237 The books that I saw on her shelf, that I liked, were Arguably by Christopher Hitchens, and Homo Deus by Yuval Hoah Harari. These don't have anything to do with her music, I think that both books were written after her singing career ended. Seeing Linda as an intellectual definitely adds to her mystique. At least it does for me. And, the intellectual aspect of her, makes her all the more hot, to me. Although, since the only connection that I have, and will ever have, with Linda is electronic, and read-only at that, and I am happily married for 35 years, Linda becomes safe as "the other woman" for me.
do you know how many commenters say this? why follow the crowd? do you also call everything underrated? are you obsessed with the mistreatment of poor tesla? is george carlin your favorite person to quote? does everyone who accidentally died get the darwin award?
@@joejones9520 Kate Bush kinda started the woman doing gymnastics on stage thing while singing her songs. The lemming above probably doesn't realize how influential some of these other artists are but just bash a whole generation because they don't like it.
This is such a treat to see this after all these years! I have memories of seeing Linda sing You’re No Good on Don Kirshner when I was 7 or 8, and it changed my life. Not only did I feel like I discovered a great new artist that I loved immediately, but it was the first time I knew I was heterosexual. :-) My first musical crush.
Said it before, say it again. Linda such a talented Musician. I think this demonstrates some of her talent. If in doubt of her talent, take a look at The Eagles, they formed due to association with Linda Ronstadt.
I’m a huge fan of Linda Ronstadt, for sure…but also so impressed by Andrew Gold. There he is playing drums (yes, drums) on “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” (while the regular drummer stands off to the side doing percussion). Then Andrew steps forward to play electric guitar (and do backup vocals with bass player Kenny Edwards) adding his signature solo lick from the record. And next, he’s at the piano (yes, fingers on keys) adding a sensitive accompaniment (and vocal backup) to Linda’s heartfelt ballad. Then, Andrew’s playing a tight lead guitar (again with that classic solo) on “You’re No Good” along with blending his voice into that perfect harmony ending. Some nice Andrew Gold acoustic guitar (of course) on “Close Your Eyes”, then it’s electric again for the big “Silver Threads and Golden Needles” finish. Linda Ronstadt always had the best musicians and players-in the studio and in concert. So many greats. And Andrew Gold was just so good!
I remember watching this. I was 12 or 13. I loved this show. I miss these times. I feel really bad for people born in the 2000's. The music is terrible and people and life in general stinks. There are a lot of young kids that do actually listen and prefer the music of the late 60's and 70's. There's no way you can beat it and this show had some of the best talents out there. I also loved The Midnight Special. They need to bring simplicity back to television but that will never happen.
Oh, Linda how I played these songs over and over! So much enjoyment from her special voice! This takes me back to simple times, when Linda ruled the airwaves!
A few tears come to this old man's eyes in remembrance what she was in her prime, beating the stuffing out of almost all today's female artists. God bless, Linda
Linda Ronstadt’s talent and soul are just limitless. I appreciate her even more now in my old age than ever. Her version of Blue Bayou just makes me melt - in a good way, of course!
Totally agree except for 1 thing: LOL Blue Bayou I'd listen to, but it just wasn't anywhere near her other songs. At least for me. Oh well.... But your remarks about her talent, I couldn't have said it better. Me in my old age, he says smiling
Linda conveys as much sincerity in her words as she managed to convey in her songs. Emotions that only those who give themselves to what they believe in can transmit. The truth of someone who undresses in front of an audience that looks at a single person and seems not to believe what they see, but leaves happy with what they saw.
Your song choices, the way you went from subtle and sweet to powerful in the same song, that album cover, your evolution as a person and singer, how could we not fall in love with you Linda? Miss you.
I was there! 15 years old, we were bored on a Thursday/Friday night - don't recall, so we decided to gamble on wasting time in Hollywood with free tickets for the taping that somebody picked up. We didn't know who any of the musicians were - that's how bored we were, we didn't care. . Within 6 months though -- music explosion with break-out albums from all these talents. Great memory.
Once upon a time, when Linda Ronstadt was dating Jerry Brown, I was willing to vote for him to be President, for the sole purpose of having Linda Ronstadt as First Girlfriend or First Lady if they got married.
I watched Heart Like A Wheel documentary where she sang a little bit. She may not have her old voice but I thought she sounded better than most singers do.
So wonderful to see and hear Linda - self taught, practiced her unique talents to superb strengths. Also a akamai (smart, with IT) businesswoman. She inspired and empowered the Eagles. WE love YOU Linda🙏🏼♥️😇🌺
Agreed. It was a relatively new song at the time I think... I would have loved to see the full version, but sad beautiful songs, knowing she sang on " Heart of Gold " with James Taylor and the times... She had to end it on a high positive note.
So on the first song guitarist Andrew Gold is playing drums the drummer is playing harmonica. Second song the steel player Dan Dugmore is playing guitar with Andrew.
@@danosullivan7239 So it was a certain Doug Dugmore and not Knechtel moon lighting on pedal steel? Dugmore certainly looks tentative playing what must be a very rudimentary part.
