I sang harmony vocals with Linda in this clip, Liza Jane Edwards Likins. I am in blue blouse behind her. This song was in 7/12 time signature, a little different & Linda & I would count the beats on our fingers so we didn’t mess up - ha! Kenny Edwards next to me singing 2nd lower harmony was my first husband - he was a BRILLIANT musician & vocalist & was in the Stone Poneys with Linda, from the get-go! Happy memories for me! ❤❤❤
Thanks for the wonderful inside scoop! Your vocals with Linda are heaven. I recorded this upon watching it broadcast live onto a Beta VCR back then. I’m thrilled you shared. Cheers!
Who was playing Bass? I was expecting to see Kenny to be on Bass.....Big Fan of him BTW!! A great Bass player and vocalist too!! Linda was soooo Hot here!! Thanks for sharing your post!!
Wow, so cool to have you commenting! The whole band is sooooo tight here! I'm curious why was the song recorded in such a different time signature? Thanks for shaing your memories of rocking it out with Linda!
My name is Liza Jane Edwards-Likins and I am singing harmony vocal with Linda on this song, Kenny Edwards(my husband) also singing-low harmony. Linda was ALWAYS conscious if she was yelling or singing. She was a METICULOUS VOCALIST. Singing with her was an indescribable JOY in my musical career! Thank you Linda, I LOVE YOU!!!
"Easy For You To Say", Jimmy Webb wrote Linda Ronstadt and Glenn Campbell some gorgeous gems to treasure for life! Linda Ronstadt, the hardest working voice of my generation!
I never really liked this song when she originally covered it, because I felt like it just dragged even though she sang it well. But she really punches the lights out of it on this performance. It has more punch and groove than the album version.
Danny Kortchmar on guitar. Russ Kunkel on drums, Bob Glaub on bass, Dan Dugmore on guitar, Andrew Gold guitar and it looks to be Billy Payne on keyboards
@@elizabethlikins4287 Didn't mean to slight you or Kenny Edwards. From near the beginning and a very long time after, Kenny Edwards and Andrew Gold were performing with Linda. I know of Wendy Waldman and Rosemary Butler throuih the album credits..... Now I know who you are. Find job singing. What memories and stories you must have. Interesting how she kept her friends at the time with her on many gigs especially TV even though they might not have been really needed .
Kenny was amazing vocalist and master of all stringed instruments. We got married in 1982 with wedding reception at Stevie Nicks house! So many rockstar legends in attendance, it was written up in CASHBOX & BILLBOARD magazines! Kenny was MAGNIFICENT!!!
Thanks for scrounging this up and posting. I missed Linda during the 80's due to kids. She does the Pat Benetar look well....or was it Pat doing the Ronstadt look?
Get Closer is an average song that Linda made much better by her voice. And, her Get Closer album is great. Didn't sell well but got good reviews and a couple Grammy noms for Linda.
Disagree. Linda was always powerful compared to other pop singers. But because of Penzance, she became more powerful, more controlled (as others have remarked), and continued to be wonderfully musical. Linda's performance of this song, both live and on record and video re-establishes her cred as a rock and roll shouter.
@@thinkerly1 Linda was an AMAZING VOCALIST in all genres of music she performed! I LOVED singing background harmony vocals with her for 7 wonderful years! She NEVER missed a beat, never missed a note - she was a totally awesome performer! I LOVE YOU LINDA!
Linda performed this song in 7/12 time signature & she was incredible in her performance, she transcended on this song - rocknroll goddess in timespace!
