LINDA RONSTADT I Can't Let Go

The 3rd single, and least successful from her 1980 LP 'Mad Love', 'I Can't let Go' is my favorite from the album. A cover of the Hollies hit, it followed the new wave pop sound of Billy Steinberg's 'How do I make you' and 'Hurts so bad'. Only the first of the trio made the charts in Australia, but the LP was a Top 10 success. In America, 'I can't let go' managed to crack the Top 40, peaking at #31.
Linda Ronstadt was on an extraordinary roll by 1980 with 'Mad Love' being the 7th successive platinum album for the singer. Moving effortlessly between country, pop, rock and new wave, the new decade would see the superstar explore musicals, traditional pop, traditional Mexican, Bluegrass and mainstream pop/rock. There will only ever be one Linda Ronstadt.

I remember hearing a radio Dj report that Linda had made the statement that she felt that Annie Lennox was the finest female vocalist in her opinion ever This surprised me when I heard that because Linda is better and must not be aware of how that statement would be more suited for herself No offense to Annie Lennox but Linda is the real deal!!! LYRICS … I try and I try but I can't say goodbye Feel so bad baby, ooh, it hurts me When I think of how you love and desert me I'm the broken hearted toy you play with, baby You got me goin', I need you baby I can't let go, and I want you baby I gotta have you, you know And I can't let go Though I'm just one of your lovers And I know there are so many others You do something strange to me, baby, baby You got me goin', I need you baby I can't let go, and I want you baby I gotta have you, you know And I can't let go I try and I try but I can't say goodbye I know that it's wrong and I should be so strong But the thought of you gone makes me want to hold on You got me goin', I need you baby I can't let go, and I want you baby I gotta have you, you know And I can't let go You got me goin', I need you baby I can't let go, and I want you baby I gotta have you, you know I can't let go I can't let go I can't let go I can't let go I can't let go
