I have reflected and shared many times my plight as a white woman with a flat tire. Always, and I mean ALWAYS, many times, a kind Mexican man was my rescuer. I've never had a white man stop to help me, more than a few flipping me off. Same when I was a child traveling from So Cal across to Oklahoma with my grandparents every summer. Car trouble = nice Mexican man or a family stopping to help. VIVA MEXICO!

I've worked with Mexicans, and are there to do, and diligently do their job. NO lack of work ETHIC, even in younger generation. As we see in our American youth today. Helpful as co workers, also. They come to America, work hard, build businesses of their own, and family is everything to them. Family, strong work ethic, and belief in God..

She was drop dead gorgeous when she was younger and still has those eyes all these years later. Just seems like a genuine, normal person with values that are sadly lacking in many people today.....speaking from a younger 48 year old perspective.

Came home to this interview after having dinner with an old college chum. Talked about one of my life's regrets...not going to see Linda in '76 when she performed at Alumni Hall at our college, St. John's University in Jamaica Queens. My friend said she was great and remembered her singing "Heat Wave." When was she not great?Listened to her "Back in the USA" album on the way home. This wonderful interview capped off my evening. So grateful to her for taking us along on her musical odyssey. Not only has her vast catalog of music enthralled us, but as primarily a cover artist, she has led me to know and explore so many other singers from the distant past. We, her fans, are indebted to her for continuing to share herself and her life's story with us. Her voice remains music to our ears.

Love Linda. She is my all time favorite singer. Back in the 70s when music was an important pass time (didn't have the internet of course) I would listen to her songs and voice over and over again. Sorry, but I can't do that with a lot of pop music today. Her heartfelt singing really resonated with so many of us.

My mom was just diagnosed with PSP, it’s been really hard to accept. It’s very rare so they don’t know a lot about it. It starts with a lot of falls and loss of control of motor function, my mom’s ability to speak is really affected, it’s hard to understand her. We know we don’t have all that long left with her and are trying to grieve but also make her last years as happy as possible. She’s only 60. I love Linda ronstadt, she had such a beautiful voice. I listen to her music all the time. It’s strange because my dad was a bit of a fan but I found her music on my own and began listening to it. She must be listening to the most beautiful music in her head. I’m glad she’s talking about the disorder because it is so rare most people don’t know it exists. My brother has joined a support group that helps people who have a family member with PSP and a lot of them are donating their brains to science so that someday we’ll be able to understand more about it and hopefully the people who have it won’t have to suffer as much.

Dear Linda Ronstadt, I have been a fan of yours for decades, your music, your voice your humanity all are incredible. I want to take this moment however, to thank you for the love and support you gave to your good friend, the late, great Phoebe Snow. After Phoebe’s daughter passed away, you lovingly helped her get beyond a mothers devastation of loosing her daughter. You pushed and supported Phoebe to get back out there and as a result, we were able to benefit from her extraordinary voice and talent for a few more years and create her exquisite live album, her final gift before she herself, passed away. It says a lot about you Ms. Ronstadt that as an artist, you are capable of helping another great artist and sister, during the darkest time of their life. You and Phoebe will always be my heroines.

Linda Ronstadt is a musical prodigy hands down!!! She is an amazing singer, performer and artist and as a Mexican she really makes me proud for having the gall to say she is proud of her Mexican heritage and the making of the 2 fantastic beautiful Mexican albums. People dont realize how musical and passionate Mexican music can be and is actually the poetic heart of American Country music has its rood in Mexican song poetry. I believe Ronstadt knew this and why she says it shaped and inspired her musically into being able to be so versatile. Mexicans and Americans should be very proud of such a mega talent that only comes around once in a lifetime.

Linda Rondstadt was and is perfect in every way… About her age, we grew up and old separately but together: I was, of course, never in her world, but, through her music, she seemed always present in mine. Now in her 70’s (as am I, lol.) her elegance seems un diminished, and although she can no longer sing, her music is immortalized in her many recordings. I am way too young to have enjoyed her music in the height of her career, but in my late 30's i do appreciate and enjoy the music of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. "I Don't Know Much" with Aaron Neville is one of my favorite love ballads, as is "Somewhere Out There" because I grew up on An American Tail. That's why, when people fuss and fawn over "one note/one melody/one more profanity-filled tune" Taylor Swift, I have to laugh. Linda Ronstadt was a TRUE talent; a voice that could soar to the heavens or serenade with a lush Gershwin tune. To have come of age to her music in the late 60's, early 70's, and experienced all her musical interations throughout the years, this interview truly brought me to tears. She was, and will always be, one of American popular music's untouchable treasures.
@patricialavallee8286

@@birdsfan57 absolutely, unequivocally agree! What passes today for talent, for the most part is pure garbage. Taylor swift, is more than likely autotuned to the moon and back. I heard her sing years ago with Stevie Nick's, she almost made Stevie sound off key..I believe it was , Rhiannon. I felt for Stevie. What a crash and burn. Cringe worthy🤢 Want to hear REAL singers? With God given talent? Not only Linda, but Ann Wilson, Karen carpenter, Barbara Striesand, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Judy Garland, Cyndi Lauper. Just some off the top of my head I haven't heard ANY such talent like those women in YEARS. American idol, even the winners, are at best wedding singers, karaoke singers. Pale in comparison to the true greats.

@birdsfan57 Год назад
@@patricialavallee8286 I remember that disasterous performance when Ms. Swift completely ruined the song with Stevie Nicks. True God-given talent, such as that possessed by those you mentioned, will likely never be seen again. I would add the late Eydie Gorme, Connie Francis, Dionne Warwick, Petula Clark, Della Reese, Vicki Carr, and Marilyn McCoo to that list. All amazingly talented with never a need for gimmicks or autotune.

@patricialavallee8286 Год назад
@@birdsfan57 yes, that performance with Stevie Nick's. I kind of got the vibe that Stevie was trying hard to gauge how to sing ,"around," for lack of a better word, Taylor Swift. She actually did, a if I remember correctly,, make Stevie sound off key. The whole duet was beyond awful. The talents you mentioned, as well as the ones I did, will never be duplicated. I don't know why there is a complete lack of that TRUE gifted talent today, but there is. Carrie Underwood, for instance. She's a very good singer, American idol winner, who they seem to be pushing to be a rock star. However, in NO can she hold a candle to the old school group of female singers Rock star? Ann Wilson burned that bridge. She shouldn't even try...

She's my hero.....I never married either or had kids, am 67....I saw her opening for the Eagles in 1975 at Hughes Stadium at a Community College in Sacramento probably the same time she was dating Jerry Brown the Governor of California, back then I didn't know how popular she was or the Eagles, I sure do now.

Oh, I don't know. When I see this, I think heroic, not heartbreaking. We all lose it in the end, and we can feel sad, but the reality is you persevere and that is inspirational. Special and amazing, so true!

Linda, you look marvelous darling! I'm 75, white haired also, and have followed you since, when? 60s? I listen to something of yours almost everyday. Saw you in concert with the Stone Ponies. Just wow. What an inspiration! Will be getting the book and trying the reciprs. As a fellow Arizonan I've always found the Tucson cuisine to be special and quite different than Phoenix, or New Mexico, or So CA. So, so good to see and hear you, spunky as ever! Still spunky after all these years! Me too.

@@mikefs340 yes, way back with the Stone Ponies, late 60s I think. It was a very small venue as I recall, but we all knew she would sky rocket. Same for Sunny and Cher, saw them at the same venue. And BB King also, perhaps. Memory not so good any more.. Don't recall the name of the club now, Phoenix, AZ area.

I had no idea that she was of Mexican heritage until she released her Spanish language album, but I had been a fan for many years. It would have been thrilling for me, as a Mexican immigrant, to have known sooner, especially while I was attending her concerts in the 70s.

Don't get me wrong ....l have always been a fan of her music -- one of the best singers on the planet ...in the 60s & 70s she chose to give herself a German last name and be white ....she never said a word about being Mexican and she never associated with hispanic celebrities .....All of a sudden one day decades later she wants to be poster child for Mexican pride.....❓❓❓❓❓🌵🌵🌵🌵
@argguti

@@frankarce2039 I agree, I didn’t mention it in my comment, but I knew then that she was not proud of her Mexican roots, and probably in denial about them, until she figured out she could make money, because her pride suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Geez. She never "chose" Ronstadt as a surname. That's the name on her birth certificate. Her given name. It's the family name. Get it? Also, as far back as 1971 Linda stated in Hit Parader Magazine she wanted to become the world's greatest Mexican singer. In the mid-70s she wanted to record a full album of Spanish material, but her record company didn't think it'd be a wise move for her career. So instead she recorded one song in spanish she co-wrote with her father and included it on her "Hasten Down the Wind" album. The following year she recorded "Blue Bayou" in both English and Spanish. She has always acknowledged her Mexican heritage, and she's very proud of it too. People need to do research before they go off and let themselves appear so ignorant.

@@frankarce2039 For your information Linda is German and Mexican and Dutch and probably a wonderful mixture of many more ethnicities . I don't think her mother had ANY Hispanic in her. Better yet. Pick up a book about her and read and learn about her before you make up who she is and what she did based on, I don't know what. And she didn't decide to just be Mexican one day. It's who she is. Like I said, learn about her by picking up a book about her instead of making up your own stories about her.
