Linda Ronstadt is a class act. Turning to face Nelson Riddle and his incredible orchestra during the bridge is/was an appropriate thing to do. Doing so refocuses the audience attention, while simultaneously exhibiting her appreciation. A class act.💎
Note-Perfect, Linda --------could sing ANYTHING ! ------------Her voice is silenced now, but just listening to her here-----I fall, hopelessly in love all over again. --------------------------------Wolfsky9, 73 y/o
No better. Reality, even better then Barbara S, Celine Dion all the greats. She's #1.also never got paid to sing someone's song. She Just loved to sing (like her daddy) The funny part is she never cared about awards. As I said she just loved to sing & ride her pony. Not so sure how I feel about Tucson but the city gave the us a Precious gift. Linda.
Very nice cover of a great old song. Linda was probably at her apex about a decade before this performance but she certainly can still sing, lovely voice! Her Japanese audience liked the old standards better than her folk, rock, etc., which was less popular with them. They'd already known Sinatra's songs and loved these great old standards that Linda performs so well.
Two singers scared me when I was growing up in the 70's: Ann Wilson and Linda Ronstadt. When they opened their mouth, they sounded angry. LOL. I mean, "I'M TELL YOU NOT BABY AND i'M GONIN' MY WAY. FORGET ABOUT YOU BABY CAUSE I'M LEAVIN' TO STAY." I misstook anger for just a big voice that could sing anything.
One of my favorite albums. She made torch songs sound new again for the space of an album-an amazing accomplishment for a vocalist with her rock background. She could do anything.
Music heaven-----------Linda, I've been in love with you since '66, & today, 2019, I am still in love-------no matter what. --------You're the top-----the best------total class-----beauty, grace, sexy, & without peer. ---------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
I didn't appreciate it then when Linda Ronstadt did the standards albums. I was like why is she doing that old timey music? It wasn't until about 10 years later that I understood.
This one's from Tokyo Music Festival in 1984. Linda and Nelson Riddle were guests and Laura Branigan won in the competition as 1st place representing USA.
Anyone think what Linda was doing ---was easy ??--------------Wrong! ------------Incredibly difficult, she just made it look easy.----------------------------------Wolfsky9
