I was very lucky to see him with various other performers several times . And even have him sign a couple of my LPs. May David Lindley’s music touch the ears and hearts of those who haven’t heard or seen him yet! Big thanks to those who post his live performances…in those he still lives on..and on!

@Jack Rambler and Cindy S. Jackson explains how he first met David Lindley and what he first felt when he heard him play alone in his dressing room. As I said , it is vague , without any details . It is contained in the video "Farther On” from the documentary “Going Home”, in Jackson’s words. Jackson explains that a friend (of his) brought Lindley to his dressing room and asked if he could play for him. At that point, Jackson explains what he felt for the first time upon hearing him. Sorry, Cindy S. , but I put Jack R. first because he was the one who first asked the question about how did they just bumped into each other. I originally had you first and I apologize for reconsidering . “Reconsider Me”. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4TbQHF3Y9oo.html

Since no one else has made a comment within a year , I’m guessin’ I’m the only one out there who knows what “ SHINE’ means. I’m from Kentucky . At one time everyone was in fear of the revenuer , a government agent , during Prohibition. They were searching for stills to destroy them. Stills were all copper pots used to distill corn into 100 proof alcohol . When I was about 10 , on a trip to western KY , my father pointed out smoke or steam that was coming off of a mountain side and telling me about moonshiners. At that time you didn’t have to do it by the light of the moon. When the heat was on about making illegal whisky , I just think it was done under the light of the moon . Moonshine was still being made in the 1960’s because of the many “dry” counties in Kentucky which still exist today. When I was a teenager , I was shown a very small house in West Virginia devoid of any vegetation , but to which hundreds of pounds of sugar (instead of corn) were delivered weekly to make moonshine . To this day , August 27 , 2019 , you can still buy 100 proof moonshine in a liquor store , in Lexington Kentucky . Now it is considered part of our heritage . I’m not sure , but I think it may have a cult following . It’s everywhere , but you have to know that it is just grain alcohol , which is also readily availably in any liguor store , at least in Lexington KY.

Just before I herniated a disc in Belfast, Maine 4 weeks ago Commander Pecor, USN 20 year Vet Frigate Commander and Annapolis grad "I drive ships" he said. I drove him about 10 miles and he bought me a couple of those big Twisted Teas and a pack of cigarettes. How's that for 'benefits?' Well, he's still with DOD and now out building me a new Frigate USS (can't tell you) We 'know' her name and she is fast fast fast like a fucking sea Mercury. When these badass fucking ships 'breakaway' after un-reps, they accelerate for all they're worth right up to 35 knots with enough firepower to end a war all by herself. They make a hard turn and stay bolt upright while blaring their 'breakaway' song (always badass rock songs) that sounds like it's being amplified by Bruce Springsteen's full Madison Square Garden kit. And when the twin turbines spool up and whine like Goddesses on the hunt you just stare in awe. Anyway, I'm getting a new one of those with a credit card for gas.

Dennis, Lindley is more than a slide player. He plays banjo, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, saz, chumbush, and more. Check out his "official bootleg" live recordings with Wally Ingram or Hani Naser on percussion. I saw him play at one of these solo/duet shows; I had brought along a couple of young teenagers, and Dave and Wally gave the boys guitar picks and drumsticks, autographed their T shirts, answered their questions, and conversed with the boys as equals. It was a fine thing to see!

Looks like Tommy Shannon on bass (from Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble).

Nope! It's Kevin McCormick. He's played bass with everybody: Nils Lofgren, Jackson Browne, CSN, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, John Mayall, Melissa Etheridge, Robben Ford, David Lindley, and many others.

One Hundred Dollars Posted in Uncategorized on January 27, 2008 by blackshepherd Well, I can say that I got a check for $100. But not sure how I did. I ended up playing from 7-9pm then the River gods started warming up. They didn’t get started till almost 10pm with sound issues. They were good but the vocal mix could have been much better. They make a good presentation and seem to have a good following. There were about 30 people in the immediate stage area and about 50-75 more throughout the bar. I did alot of The Band covers; Dylan…etc and got no comments whatsoever from anyone. The only I got was from a couple of guys at the end of the bar who applauded occasionally and asked me to “do Jimmy”….I was very nervous in the beginning but got going and I think I did ok for the first hour and should have taken a break after a good song but I plodded right on through the whole 100 minute slot. At the end I was really fucking up on “Oh! Darling”…for some reason I got off key twice and it really sounded bad…it’s the first time that’s ever happened to me….so it sucks to do worst at the end cause I think that’s what people remember…plus there’s more people there toward the end…but whatareyagonnado? I have to give myself credit for doing it and facing down the anxiety/fear again. I certainly didn’t bomb and I didn’t dissociate per se but definitely too much mental energy was involved with attending to fear. I got the best response from “Can’t Find My Way Home”. But this is to be expected. Everybody that ever plays in front of an audience has experienced this is some form so I’ll chaulk it up as an accomplishment. It was a paid professional performance and if I can do it there I can do it elsewhere and I think it will be easier for me in places where I’m a complete stranger…I’ll enjoy that element of it I think. But the immediate challenge will be to get to Austin and start writing original songs. Hopefully the live-in studio thing will pan out…that would make all the difference so I’m hopeful. One thing to comment on is the feeling of slinking out of the place with my equipment with my head down like I’d done something wrong…it’s weird…I’ll have to get over that somehow…the expectation that people are going to say something negative…it blocks me from accepting positive feedback…something to work on. So I did some songs really well, some fairly well and one or two not so well…so time to let go of it and move on…I got a check for $100…let’s shoot for $200 and an original song. I noticed that most of Rivergod’s songs were very simple. The lead singer/songwriter played mostly in C major and maybe G…very simple arrangements but with drums; peddle steel guitar; lead guitar and bass…it filled out very well. Plus he was a pretty good showman/performer…appropriate…not over the top. But boy…if ever it was pressed home…simple songs…they can always be fleshed out later.
