(Usually something that's done by human traffickers because men tend to be more likely to put up a fight, and are not worth as much.) I once saw a homeless guy and his small son sifting through a trash can for bottles and cans so I walked up and slipped him $50. I said "Here mate, go and get yourselves something nice to eat." He just gave me a strange look, like he was in a bit of shock. As I slowly walked off I thought I bet no one has ever helped him like that before, that's why he's so shocked. Then he starts talking to me "What is this for?" he asks me. I tell him again it's so he can go and get food. Clearly realising suddenly what was happening he says to me, "I'm not homeless you know. I live just around the corner (in a nice area), we collect bottles for a few extra dollars that's all. But thanks very much for the money, I appreciate it." lol I never was so arrogant to assume anything ever again.
