Now she's a Tony winner!!! I'm actually a student of Lindsay's at her Actor Therapy program.... She's so cool and down to earth from working with her. She helped me with my audition book, making the song my own, and everything.
Holy crap, I'm pretty picky because this musical is so dear to me, but I think Lindsay Mendez just became my favorite Elphie. Did not know you could wail like that girl!!
Lindsay Mendez goes straight up beast mode on this song every single time! I love her unique riff at the end (so far as I'm aware, no other Elphaba performer sings the ending the same as her). But more importantly, I love her! :D
i know people say idina is the best but i think lindsay is better in emotion and acting. Not even metioning her impeccable singing ability. i literaly cried at the end cause i was so proud of her
she is just sooooooooo good!!! She sounds absolutely flawless throughout this whole performance. Although outstanding doesnt even begin to describe Lindsay's Elphaba, out of the broadway elphaba's she the wizard and I girl :)
I love Lindsay's elephie! I also love shoshona's and Rachel's but I love all elphies! I think Lindsay's wizard and I is very quirky, which makes it unique :)
Her voice is so powerful and obviously she has an amazing range to be able to sing this song but MOST IMPORTANTLY her voice is clear. Like I didn't know all the words until now listening to her.
I love her emotions!!!! She never leaves character hahaha, I loved this performance! I've noticed on every video of a different Elphaba, all the commenters say that one is the best. This just goes to show that every Elphaba has been amazing and has given her own flavour to the role. People are usually attached the one whom they got a chance to see first. I don't see the point in constantly comparing singers against eachother, the same people aren't always going to be performing.
Lindsay's Wizard and I is THE BEST!!! Noone can even come close to her vocal perfection and role as Elphaba. Miss her so!!!! Saw her twice! She is the Elphaba power house. Her replacement is cute, but noone can match this woman!!
No one else's version can match Lindsay! She is dearly missed. She IS Elphaba! She is absolutely amazing! Perfection! I'll say it again....vocal goddess!
Unicorn Films oh my goodness... I'm glad I did too, I've read them several times. I love the entire series and I had a real sense of loss at the end of Out of Oz, I fell in love Liir and Rain both well written characters. I hope he revisits them in a future work.
Paul Golden I swear Gregory Maguire intentionally wrote his books to be heartbreaking, but I'm glad he started out by making Elphaba someone who wasn't wicked, just really misunderstood, and then continuing life in Oz. I agree, Out of Oz was particularly hard to get through, knowing it'd be the last. I think my favorite of all of Maguire' characters was Rain, since she was so well developed and had a sense of adventure that's really picked up with Elphaba in the Broadway show (which is near and dear to my heart, as I've seen about 3,000 performances from the wings or the orchestra pit, with my father who's on the lighting crew). I do hope he visits Liir and Rain again, but I doubt he will. Though Maguire hasn't left Oz, per se, he has left the characters in the WIcked Years
Unicorn Films -- that is a gift to be able to see some many performances! I'm "wicked" jealous lol. I haven't seen it on Broadway yet but I'm planning planning on making a trip down to see Rachel Tucker when she arrives, I think she is amazing. McGuire put Rain through hell, I'm not sure if it was worse than Fae's or Liir's but I felt her struggle more because I feel he wrote the book from over her shoulder and I saw her story unfold directly through her eyes.
Paul Golden I totally agree! I felt the closest to Rain, another reason why she is my favorite, and I connected to her storyline more than any of the others. You should definitely make a trip to see the Broadway show. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and though the tickets do come at a steep price, I think it's well worth the cost. It changes 'The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' (too many words in that title, whew), but I won't spoil it in case you don't already know the end. Even though I've seen it so many times and could probably put on a one-woman performance, it's always an enchanting experience. I have mixed feelings about Rachel Tucker, as Caroline is one of the actresses I've grown closest to and probably one of my favorites playing the role, but I have no doubt that Rachel will be amazing if/when you do decide to see her on stage!
@Caleb Herman yes! They were the power trio! Ali and Katie of course but gosh... they just had the best chemistry and are such good friends offstage which really helps chemistry on stage in my opinion. Dude.... we NEED them to be in the wicked movie
She is by far the best Elphie ever. She's extremely unique and talented. I mean, of course, Idina is amazing, but saying she could not be replaced... come on
She starts off with low and freakin blew my mind in the ending bruh that belt😍🔥 I mean yeah there are singers that are good but she is sooooo amazing, like it's not just singing but also her acting and the emotions💖 she's brilliant 💚💚💚
The best part of this performance is that she looks so happy just to be there playing that role. Like there is no place she would rather be! That is what always sells me on an actor or actress
I thought I wouldn't be able to move on from Idina... and Lindsay appears in my life. I watch this video every fucking day and I'm completely OBSESSED with her. Can't stop watching the Fly Girl series either.
