Lindsey out here just putting so many feelings I’ve had in my 20’s regarding sex that I hadn’t been able to form into thoughts or express by words into my 30’s. I just know there was a shift for me. I loved the beginning conversation especially. I’m 27 and disabled and I’ve never even been on a date. I genuinely don’t know how people do it, especially now when everybody’s got phones and there are people just waiting to smear others as “creeps” and “perverts.” While a lot of those people do exist, not everyone fits into that category, and this especially applies to men since I’m a dude. Dating has always been difficult but now it just sucks because everyone is so isolated from one another, particularly in a hyper-individualistic and self-centered society like the US. I feel so bad for Lindsey. I would give anything to meet her. It’s sad that, like me, she feels no one really wants her.

I'm so grateful sex has not felt performative for me, but there have been a few occasions where it definitely felt like an itinerary when there was zero emotional connection. My biggest challenge while dating, was feeling an emotional connections with a guy and not knowing how to communicate it until he would essentially ghost me when he was done. That talk about those moments that just pass hit me hard. There was a summer I met a woman who told me she'd love to date, but it wouldn't be forever because she was trying to get her dream job, and it meant moving from place to place, and she didn't want people to follow her. So I knew it wouldn't last forever. But it was one of the most awesome summers of my life, and we had so much fun and went on a million adventures. She was so kind and sweet. When she finally got her call to move, I knew that was it. I didn't try and find a way "to make that change" because I knew how much that dream meant to her and how serious she was about it. So I let it pass. I'll always be appreciative of the time we had and cherish it in life. Just a happy summer, love and adventure, even if for a brief time.
