The Vintage Hot: Lindy Fralin's best-selling Stratocaster replacement pickup. Lindy designed the Vintage Hots to combat the thin, weak, and shrill sound out of vintage Strat pickups. Today - they are still our best-selling Strat pickup!
Fralin seriously makes the best pickups out there and Lindy is amazing to work with. A few years back, when I was upgrading my PUPs and still a newbie, instead of responding to me emailed questions, Lindy spent 30mins on the phone personally talking me through all the details. Learned so much that day. Awesome customer service. Awesome product. Awesome tone! Can't recommend them enough. Thanks again Fralin!
Hope you have fun making my lefty loaded Strat pickguard with two Vintage Hots and a Blues Special...can't wait to get them in a few weeks. My budget Tele with Blues Special is nothing short of special.
A man that is passionate about what he builds. Just taking the time to talk to someone instead of email says alot. Maybe someday I can get his pickups.
I have had these pickups in my silhouette special for over 10 years (I didn't know much about guitars nor pickups... I was just recommended these by good people at Rudy's back when it was at 48th street)... Here I am in 2022.. A little wiser (I HOPE. haha) and little more knowledgeable when it comes to Strats... finally am able to truly appreciate how amazing these set up pickups sound. It's so glassy, yet so beefy when you kick that gain in. I'm truly thankful for your creation! Thank you!!!
A while back I was building guitars. I wanted Fralin pickups because even though they were pricey, Lindy takes the time to make you exactly what you want. I ordered 6 sets of his strat single coils and told him I wanted them to now be piercing like the strat pickups, and instead of them going kachunk kachunk I wanted them to go kachuuuunk. Lindy knew exactly what I was looking for and I also wanted alnico staggered pole pieces. He educated me on air pockets/voids in the pole pieces and told me he would hand pick them for me because I was buying as many as I was. The guitars I made were strat copies. I had a variation of woods to choose from. I can tell you that everyone that got one from me loved it. Lindy is a connoisseur of sound and totally understands sound language when you talk to him. Really nice and professional. Thanks Lindy!
Great video, and awesome pickups I have this set in my Strat and absolutely love em! A gentleman commented on Fralin’s customer support, and I couldn’t agree more. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Lindy on a number of occasions, first class and eager to help in any way he can. Not just Lindy though all of the fine folk @ Fralin are really cool! There’s a wealth of information on the website too, the workbench is AWESOME!!!
I've been a huge fan of your Vintage Hots ever since I first heard them when NYC's 48th St was in full bloom. The guys at the custom shops were raving about them. I've installed them in lots of guitars since then. Q How does your newer Woodstock model compare with the Vintage Hots? I had always viewed V.Hots as being the perfect Hendrix-like pickup, but Hendrix would have played a lot of enamel-wired Fenders from 64 onward. Does the enamel or winding technique on the Woodstocks do anything outside the range of V.Hots?
Have had a preloaded vintage hot pickguard in the closet for almost 2 years which i planned to load in my 2000 MIM strat.. need to get my shit together. Sure does sound amazing from all the demos online and im glad thats what i chose as a replacement
Thanks so much for posting this! I'm very, very close to ordering a set of vintage hots for my strat, as I really am in need of a beefier bridge pickup. I barely use the one on my strat now because it's so thin and treble-y. I find myself backing off my tone knob to about 6 or 7 before I start to feel comfortable even using it. Would you recommend the baseplate option; does it make a noticeable difference? -Chris
