I tried the same setup, but with the mark 4 and Diezel vh4, and man that NAILS it. I use a black album ir with the Mk4 and a hardwired ir with the Diezel (ch3)
I'm not actually alternate picking Creeping Death. Chugging the open low E with down strokes and the accented chords are played with an upstroke. This allows me to keep the same "aggressive" sound without having the muscles in my forearm seize up from the tension of all down strokes. Props to the dudes in Metallica who can still downpick Puppets! That stuff kills my arm!
Nick Cutroneo ha okay. I can hear the upstrokes and it didn’t sound right to me. I played in a Metallica tribute for awhile and was looking for some good Metallica patches. Focusing on getting my forearms to handle those downstrokes at full speed took me awhile so I hear ya!
