I still use my XT Live. Its a great headphones/discreet practice tool with some quite impressive tones for the finding. Where I find the XT shines today is as a pure and simple Effects processor in the send and return of a Friedman Tube amp. Turn off all mic.amp/cab modeling. Adj so the unit knows you plugged the guitar into the amps input and not the XT's input in the scroll options and you are golden with some really great mods'delays, synth's,ver'bs, gates,eq's,etc. For the $150 these go for they are Still Very Good sounding Modelers in the right hands.
I totally agree! I bought mine years ago secondhand! Back than I only had a bedroom amp and was playing in a band for the first time. Never felt the need to get myself an upgrade as the sounds are just fine and I still find myself learning every time I start playing around with all the options!
Most the effects were good if you run this through the effects loop. Where this thing really sucked though was in its fuzz and distortion pedals. Even the overdrive pedals to me had a weird sustain cut off. Otherwise I did a lot of shows with this thing, including using it as a bass rig. I will say when I didn't want to carry and Amp, I used this with the Blackstar HT Dual pedal and it sounded like a tube headed beast.
@@lorenmorgan1931 Yep. I tried creating patches that utilized the xtl as just a front boost in amp platform but I couldnt get the quality out of any of the included dirt models that the TS9 and Bigg Muff I own give.
@@ricdale7813 Yeah, I think it just didnt have the processing power, and the programmers didn't have the knowledge they have now. The Helix is way more advanced. The tones on there sound almost believable to me. I will say that there is something about the Helix that still doesn't sit right with me in comparison to some of the other offerings like Tonex, or especially TH-U. If only Overloud would make a pedal. :)
Would you think is still good and not necessary to upgrade to POD GO or something similar? I have the XT Live that I bought used last year and is almost new. But I feel the sounds on newer units better. Or maybe combine the XT Live with POD GO? I’m not professional but want something good, cheap to play at church
There was a time when i did so many things with this pedal but now when i took it back for action but found that guitar port isnt working unable to scan my processor and unable to transfer any tones.. hurted finding someone to help me use this awesome gadget again...
Ahh that sucks man…I still use this pedal to this day!! By your “guitar port” do you mean the “Jack Input”? Maybe its an easy solder fix! Let me know, maybe I can help!
