I just tragically lost my guitarist of 30 years. His wife told me he wanted me to have his gear. One thing that I recieved was his Line 6 150 watt spider II. It is difficult to find detailed setting preferences by users. I have not ever played guitar, but now I have started to learn. I was also not ever involved in which equipment he used, but now I know, and now I appreciate his work even more. When I've set up my presets on my Spider II, the only really usable way I've found to do it is at actual volume. Otherwise the levels seem to be way off, sometimes the EQ is wrong, etc. This might be another reason people hate on these amps so much, "It doesn't sound like how I set it!" Just my two bits. Excellent - I have put it into what Sean says, because if you are anything like me you will need a print out until it is programmed into the eprom in your brain. This is the process: Channel settings To see where the settings are hold down the tap button - while holding it down turn 'amp models' knob all the way to zero then to 12 o'clock then as you turn each tone knob - the channel lights will light up when you reach where each tone is set do this for the channel volume too Let go of the tuner button now the knobs are exactly where the channel settings were stored You can now change the settings - to store them - Push and hold the channel button until it blinks, let it go and then push it again until it stops blinking and the settings are stored in that location. Switch channels and repeat the process.

This trick does not work on My Line 6 Spider IV 75. and also Problem i have is when i change presets and hit a string the amp wants to scream to blow up. What is going on .?
Thanks for this video! I had problems using my 30W amp. The volume went away and other annoying things happened. Hopefully I'll be able now to get my settings stored.
I just bought 2 used line 6 amps that that looks brand new and also a ESP LTD V 50 with a flight case and they look brand new for only $150... but my line 6 looks a little different then yours and I reckon it's because it's a newer model but I can't figure out how to do the factory reset.. when I go from clean to dirty the dirty side is really loud.. that's what brought me to your video is trying to find the factory reset.. For a small 15 watt amp that little bastard sure packs a punch.. Lol.. I also have a 4×12 cabinet that I hook it up to... all I can say is Wow...
Hi Sean, your video is great for a beginner like me. I am planning to buy a new Line 6 Spider iv 75watts guitar amp. I was looking at the line out on the back side of the amp. It says Phones/ Direct out. Just wondering whether i could give a line out from the amp to the mixer with the amp working as my monitor on stage? or Does the amp mute when i put the cable pin in Phones/Direct out? Cheers..
I tried everything to get my line 6 amp to sound good. In the end, I binned it and purchased a marshall valve amp and a couple of pedals no more bad tones.
I swear they made this amp way to complicated for no reason at all. Never had an amp where the volume goes 1-100 and have to reset everything every time I swap models

Line6 has at least 3 models of footswitches for that generation of amps. One switches just between the 4 presets on 1 level A-B-C-D. The bigger one allows you to scroll up and down levels to access all the presets. They also include a volume pedal.
I just picked up pristine Spider IV 15W from Goodwill yesterday as a Christmas present for my nephews. Is there a similar procedure for amp? My bother would appreciate it if I set more to the quiet end of its range. Edit : I posted this before realizing that the IV doesn’t have the amp model control. Hopefully I can find what I need soon, before shipping this thing off.
Hi does this work on the bognor valve 40watt spider? As we need to know how to erase the factory pre sets on ABCD as the different volume settings. from one Chanel to another is just crazy loud! The master volume is so sensitive touch it it will increase dramatically, I have now put a volume box In the line coming from the send to control it. So we need to know how to clear the factory sounds on ABCD completly out. Hope you can help thank you so much
Well, this video was made with an old non-tube Spider 3. I also owned a Bogner 40watt combo Spider 3 from the same era, and the same technique worked to find the presets. From what I've heard, the Spider IV and later models may not have the same back door trick. It was buried in the user manual, so maybe you can find out by referencing your user manual?
The most wonky way to control an amp that I have ever seen. In my Engl thre's no such modulation but just two channels you put settings in and then switch between them if you need to. But unlike in this amp, you can get a good sound out of it.
Yeah, every Line6 amp wishes it was an ENGL! Yours must be a tube amp - never heard of Engl going the amp modeling route. Not sure why you would stumble upon this vid for a Line6 modeling product. I left the amp modeling scene a few years ago when I got my Mesa and EVH heads. But recently discovered some decent amp modeling from the Atomic Ampli-FIRE products.
I also have your model. This video only applies to the older spider iii. I don't know if the new models have the same feature. On the iv 15 each channel ABCD is a separate amp model. There are no alternate models in-between them, so Line6 removed the amp model knob, wasn't necessary.
That could be current rate for the Echo/Delay if that's active/on. From what i recall, hold button in for couple seconds to access Tuner. When finished press again to turn off and light I think will return to previous setting. If you want slower press several times at slower rhythm.
I've got this amp, had it for a long time, haven't used in awhile. I'm wanting to play a keyboard thru it and amplifier it. Is there a way to have it amplify but with no effects? Clean! I mean super clean! . LOL. I'm just wanting the sound from the keyboard. I'm inputing thru the 1/4 inch jack. If I use the cd input it doesn't amplify. Adam Howell I don't think this particular feature works on the Spider IV, or on the 15 watt versions... based on comments I've gotten. However, I have not tried it on anything other than my own Spider 3 75 w. you might check the Line6 site - they have download versions of all the user manuals.
+Sean Dickson After my gear was stolen, I picked up a Line 6 Spider 2 75 watt 1x12 at the pawn shop for a practice amp, just to get playing again (a new Marshall half-stack is a bit pricey at the moment). Of course, it didn't come with a manual. I've tried using the built in tuner but have no idea how it works on my amp. Could you provide some insight on how the amp's tuner feature works?
Adam Howell How do you know when you're in tune and how does the amp know which string you're tuning? I've been playing long enough that I'm pretty good at tuning by ear (from notes of songs that I've had stuck in my head forever), but sometimes I like to make sure I'm right on the money perfect.
Adam Howell Oh, okay. Thanks. I wasn't aware of that. Is that some kind of pedal or footswitch that Line 6 makes? I know I didn't get everything with this amp because there is a footswitch jack and the pawnshop guy didn't give me a footswich so I know I didn't get the whole thing as it would come from the store brand new.
To reset any of the settings, just turn the corresponding dial. The point of the feature is to show you where volume, bass, mid, treb, etc. were last set.
You should be able to re-set and lock in the volume levels for each channel ABCD. Start with A, set the volume, gain, etc., then hold down the A button until it blinks. That locks in all settings. Then go to B and repeat.

I thought for a minute I'd at last got some great info on this confusing amp but --- When I touch the TAP button it goes into tuner mode and that's that. I've just passed one hour or so trying to make it behave like yours but it will not? F*** it I'm going out, I need beer! One last try and I realize I'm not looking at a Spider iv 75. Bugger!!!!
Yes, mine is a Spider III. the iv looks like it has many other options with the smart fx. I took a quick look at the online manual from Line6, but did not spot the same tool behind the tap button.
