It did not died, it just changed. I don't like the new expansions either, but the game is still going on and a lot of people are still playing it on the official servers. And there are also plenty of private servers on the newest expansions. :)

It was well alive after c4, all the way to like h5. It was great until somewhere around t1. GoD killed it completely

@KonicavaBR whoa reply to 8yo post :D well since most people started playing in c4 c5 i dont think c6 aka interlude was the end, more like hellbound and kamael . Some actually enjoyed gracia and h5 is still going strong in private servers. If c6 aka interlude didnt had augments and later they didnt introduced atributes things might be diferent...

@KonicavaBR i know what you mean, but after year or two it became boring to run around from town to town or zone to exp, we did that milion times and l2 is huge grindfest, so they needed to make it more similar to world of warcraft and etc with instances, quests for exp and items etc. I also enjoyed first time shipping from gludio to giran, running from gludin to gludio to dion on foot, but it was newbie times and it was fun, later we knew every corner of map and people now want fast lvl fast items fast endgame to fight in pvp and oly, sadly it happens to all mmorpg games after some time. Wow had same thing ,they also tried to make classic like l2 and also failed, cause its not really that much of chronicle problem but the players and community.

+Zacarias Recabarren as someone who has played lineage 2 since chronicle 1 ... I still enjoy GOD better , because it has all come down into gameplay the most. Game has changed it is no way the same with the choatic chronicles or even the kamaelic chronicles... But Vongola is def correct game is better now no matter what u say. But that doesnt mean people will like it the same. When we all started we were young and were playing with all our real life friends non stop in lan etc... nothing is the same.

+The23520 You entirely miss the point of the "RPG" element in a game. I started playing in C2 and the game just kept getting better with every chronicle because they added depth to the lore, the thing with GoD is they broke that, they destroyed every village, every lowbie area, every quest! and everything that made each race/class unique and replaced it with a cliché of "you're the chosen one" narrative and easy to Awaken mode. I don't know what happened after GoD, but when I played they completely erased my favourite class, which was duelist, when I awoke and sent years of practice to the ground. There's no RPG element in this game anymore and that's what I meant, this game is just countless hours of farming adena or very little numbers of exp and that makes me really sad, because I love this game to pieces, now I've read that they're merging servers and that means the player base is getting lower and lower. I just hope NCSoft has more lineage for us in the future, because L2's fate looks sealed. Sorry for the long post. Enjoy the game anyway.

Zacarias Recabarren most people quit because of the l2 store... and specific events that changed to some kind of buying stuff from l2store to get better rewards... (btw duelist is kinda back but still different...) the game and gameplay is different but the lore changed indeed... But what i still am talking about is the gameplay , farming or even pvping is different... anyways if u didnt enjoy it then its up to you... see ya and have fun
