Linear Reversal Study in 7/8 with improvisation (short) 

I'm drawn more and more to linear drumming as it leaves space for musical chemistry, and let's each instrument on the kit resonate with the others at speed. And especially with cymbals against drums in succession, it can be beautiful.
The pattern I've written is just:
kick, ride, snare, hi hat foot, ride bell, hi tom, floor tom
x 4
immediately reversed:
floor tom, hi tom, ride bell, hi hat foot, snare, ride, kick
x 4
Therefore the end of the first order into beginning of the reversal is a doubling of the floor tom.
I'm also drawn to compositional tools for drummers. In this example, we see the pattern, though technically non-pitched percussion, structured like an arpeggio. The pattern ascends four times, and descends four times. Much like a tone row because it does not have a diatonic harmony, we have a set of notes which can still be given pitch if we want to.
