In this video I'm demonstrating how to make the - Lazy-Pants - from my pdf Pattern with illustrated Instructions, available in my Etsy store (www.etsy.com/shop/tropicalres...)
Obviously you need the pattern to make the pants, so please buy a set and support me :D!

I love this pattern. I don''t like a separate piece for the waist band. So when I saw your pattern I had to have it. Your instructions are really well done. I do have a suggestion to include in your instructions for future patterns, could you show the legend of how the markings on the pattern correspond to the sizes. I printed the pattern out, but after making adjustments to it, I forgot what size I printed. So, I had to look up the patter in my files. But it would have been easier to just look in the instructions which I had printedalready out.. Thanks.

Hi! I just made a pair yesterday and I love them! Your instructions and video were so helpful! I was wondering, if I want to had elastic to the ankle, where would be the best place to add the additional length? Still the knee or the ankle itself? Any help would be awesome!

Making these soon! Have you or anyone tried with denim? I was planning on linen until I came across the most beautiful cream denim fabric and had to get it! I’m nervous though.. any adjustments you suggest I make?

I made a pair from a light weight denim/ corduraoy and a quilted pair a few weeks ago- it works very well - if the material is really heavy you might want to make the pockets from a lighter fabric & if you want to keep the look slim - you can size down 1 size. ✌️

Hi Tobias, I really enjoyed making these and your pattern booklet is a real treat and labor of love. I have a question - I made them in S and find the seat rather voluminous. I love the fit everywhere else though so don’t want to size down. Do you have a suggestion for how to hack the pattern for a flat seat adjustment? Thank you!

Hi, Tobias, can you explain why the pants back was not aligned with the grain the way the front was? It looks as if maybe the cuff/hem is, though. Is this to do with how they drape? Or was it just because it left useful areas for the smaller pieces to be cut? I was never much good at sewing, and clueless about fashion, but have always liked looser clothes with simple lines and natural materials: the detail that you show in your videos makes me feel hopeful that I can actually emulate some of these - though I will probably start an easier one.

yeah I tend to cut plain linen a bit off grain to save fabric. the pattern is oversized so it works very well and i have more nice left over pieces for other projects🤓

Yes of course! I like the elastic because it spreads the gathers out nicely - but just the drawstring works just as well!

i’m going to make these tomorrow but i have a question, can you explain why you add an elastic for the waist and also add the drawstring? why cant you just add the drawstring with no elastic? thank you so much for this tutorial by the way it is very helpful

Oh you can do both or just one of them. The elastic creates the gathers all around the waist and the drawstring is a bit more flexible. I like both at the same time so the elastic gathers and the drawstring is extra security. If i have my wallet and phone in my pockets the elastic is too weak sometimes 😅🫶🏻
