Lineolated Parakeet Cage Set Up | In this video I demonstrate how I set up a cage for a Lineolated Parakeet. If your Linnie is in the cage for most of the day than a bigger cage is recommended. Longer cages are better than taller cages. This cage in 24" wide by 17" deep and 16" high.

I love how they choose to eat the veggies over the seeds! I gave my lovebird sunflower seeds yesterday and she is refusing to eat pellets today because of it. Good to know not all birds are fussy eaters :'D

my linnie stopped eating fruits and veggies since I introduced pellets in his diet (and he never really liked seeds or millet). But I always keep fresh fruit and veggies in the cage :S

My linnie has a huge cage all to himself, he loves it and all his toys, he also loves his blanket and snuggle bed. . They are so different from one another, my last linnie who recently died hated toys he wouldn't touch them.. But my new linnie loves them so i am going to be buying him more toys soon...

Thanks for making these informative videos on linnies! I had never heard of them until recently and now I'm pretty sure it's the bird I want. I was looking into parrotlets but these seem to suit me a lot better

If you would keep them in Germany the cage has to be much bigger. Some untoxic branches are better for the birds feet. So their nails and beaks remain small/in a good shape beause they use them. I prefer branches of tilia/limetrees, hazelnut, apple, cherry trees.

with the dowels perches you can risk bumblefoot, to prevent this I create fun textures with twine and stuff wrapped around them, I find that they love it and it works great!!

That's a great idea. I use vet wrap or moleskin but twine sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the tip.

Just get under pads, it’s like a puppy training pad but for seniors or for kids. They come in many sizes. You can also add a screen protector on the bottom half of the cage to keep feathers and seeds from falling out of the cage.

+His name was Rocco Merlin did pretty good without Wizard. He is bonding with my other two. I let them out together but all three still can't share a cage.

Great tip about the plastic runner on top of the cage. I have a very similar cage too but I love your setup method. I tend to clutter with too many toys... trying to rotate them to keep my Linnies interested. Do they really need one of those cuttlebones?

KewlQT cuttlebone is good for females for the calcium. Males don't need it has much. It is a good source of calcium so it's best to offer it to them just in case they need it.

Love of Pets I use calcium/mineral blocks for my hen when they're breeding. Definitely something I only put in their cage when required. I guess it's cause I've heard so many horror stories about hens becoming egg bound then the bird dies if not taken immediately to an Avian Vet. A delicate balance.

Provide the parents with plenty of food to feed the babies, they need egg food and lots of greens and veggies. Millet too,

Hi, longer is better. There is a cage exactly like this but it's 32" long. Also it's best if you can let him out to fly at least once a day

HI Love of Pets, I might get a turquoise linnie in 6 wks from a breeder. Hopefully. My brother just got a green linnie after his gorgeous 9 wks old bluish, green & white parrotlet was killed by his stupid dog. Poor bird. I loved that little guy. So sad. The owner had a similar one in color, but my bro chose a linnie instead. I hope it's beautiful color. What type of food (seeds) do you feed your linnies? Can I use my parrotlet's food to feed him? I use cockatiel mix and hookbill supreme. This was chosen by the store lady when I got my bird. I mixed the two bags of seeds into a container. Also what type of veggie & fruits you feed the linnies? I saw the poop, yah, they're much bigger than parrotlets.

Congratulations! I love the turquoise Linnies. I am in the process of making a Linnie Species Spotlight video that should be uploaded within the next few days. Pellets are better than seed but that mixture sounds fine. I give both pellets and seeds along with fresh foods. Mine love everything. The love greens, carrots, peas, corn, broccoli, sweet peppers, apples, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, golden berries, quinoa, brown rice, snap peas etc. Yes the poop is huge, lol

Thanks for the reply. No Congrat yet until I actually buys the bird and have it in my hand, but thank you anyway. They're still in eggs now. I won't know until I see them. I asked the breeder if I can reserve before I pay since I cannot see their full color/feather if he post baby pictures. As for seeds, I asked if Cockatiel mix and Hookbill Supreme is good for a linnie, which is what I feed my parrotlet. The breeder told my brother that he used budgie seeds, and that's why I want a 2nd opinion if it's correct or not. His linnie was 7 wks old. Knows how to fly and likes to climb and cuddle. He was tired. I let him borrow my bigger cage 21x14x14 inch, which I use for traveling. I have a bigger one, but I use that for my parrotlet. Thank you also for letting me know about the upcoming video about linnies. It's always good to learn about a species before beginners buy them.

Are linnies quieter then budgies? The seem to have similar characteristics

Linnies don't chatter all day. Their call is louder than a budgie. When my Linnies and budgies are screaming at the same time, I prefer to hear my budgies, lol. Linnies are slower than budgies and climb more than fly. They can be clumbsy.

I purchased a cage online for my new Linnie, it’s 24/20.75/32 it’s huge it’s actually a little larger than the one I ordered. Sigh, anyway it’s 1/2 bar space I was thinking of keeping it so you think it’s too big 🤔
