this was done with the new experimental animation cancelling mod made by Xendra, combined with the residual effects of using BBS Ultimate Mix by Keytotruth on this save file despite uninstalling it afterwards (which is why Terra's slide is buffed, some finish commands are faster, etc) plus I used a save editor to play as armored Terra animation cancelling has some funny side effects like cancelling out of leaf bracer/guard s will give you lingering s for awhile, hence why I can combo right in the middle of MF's long combo or face-tank a tornado BBS - Better Battle System: www.nexusmods.com/kingdomheartsbirthbysleepfinalmix/mods/31 Ultimate Mix: www.nexusmods.com/kingdomheartsbirthbysleepfinalmix/mods/25 (i dont recommend combining these by the way)
9:06 There's something so cursed about doing a regular combo to mysterious figure, even though that is the most normal thing to do in a kingdom hearts game.
@Amaya Polaris Being put into a critical situation from one hit on top of all the other BS this fight has is not good challenge design 😅 Especially with Terra, winning this fight is a roll of the dice.
This reminds me of those old modded KH2 videos of like "Roxas, Sora and Donald versus Riku, Mickey, and Axel" where half the characters would T-pose at random times and it was always in the Disney Castle courtyard.
Zantesuken absolutely breaking the game was hilarious, especially when I figured out that you were going to finish this elaborate setup with using it again and everything would go out at once. I was not expecting him to heal off of it though
@@newfacepaula you will get raped by the clones and forced into 12+ seconds of blocking. You can never combo him without him rewinding or attacking you in the middle of hit stun with no revenge values. Every bbs boss is like this
Y'know, it's pretty interesting that you can dodge out of MF's combo hits even though they're supposed to inflict stun, but it makes sense since I'm pretty sure the status only applies once your stagger animation finishes. What's _wild_ is that the game seems to remember that you're "supposed to be" stunned and thus applies it the next time a stagger animation actually finishes. Hence what happened at 4:08. What an interaction.
Bloody hell this looked like it felt far more enjoyable to play this damn game than ever. Definitely will need to consider it at some point if I do a BBS run again.
Holy smokes, this game really feels different with the mod, which is a good thing lol. Tried this and fire spam and surge & dash spam is super fun to do
I mean, you can certainly try to emulate it. Ars Solum (without its finishers) for the first, not sure for the second, a few Dash attacks for the third, another Ars Solum sans finishers, and finally a Thunder Surge.
I still occasionally think about the wnding if this where he blocks that finisher and heals off it before killing you and then fucking die laughing at the image that fades in
Watching you fight Mysterious Figure with normal commands makes me want to do it myself but I know for sure i’d want to do it until I won at least once which would honestly take forever 😂
I used to hate BBS until I saw this mod. It's now one of my fav games in the series, period, cuz it fixes so many issues. Curious as to why you don't recommend combining the animation cancel mod + Ultimate Mix. I was planning on an Ultimate Mix run, but it's gonna be hard to go back to the normal way of playing BBS.
the mod on critical actually gives you pretty nice stagger with double-hit keyblade attacks. Then when you do see the boss break out, you just dodge/guard cancel

... This just makes me wonder why the actual game wasn't programmed like this. Your commands are already limited by cooldown, and it was stuff like Ars Solum not having s that made anything other than Thunder Surge optimal, so... 🤔
I love how everything just goes completely crazy when you're not stuck in every single animation, and HOLY FUCK that timestop looking "Glitch", let's call it, from Zantetsuken healing him after one hit because of the shotty way MF was programed was flabbergasting
I read somewhere that he basically has three "reactions" to getting hit that are picked randomly every single time he's hit. So you have a 33% chance roughly of him staggering, rewinding time or going for Renewal Block. In this case one hit triggered it and everything afterwards added onto the healing effect because Renewal Block doesn't go away for as long as he's attacked during it Now how accurate that actually is I can't really say, but it would work as a close enough explanation, I guess
Apparently the mod has been updated since this video came out to make it so you can't cancel Cure spells before the healing actually goes through. Please correct me if I am wrong.
so i don't reeeeally understand about the details but we (as in terra/ventus/aqua) can get, and do get, animation cancelled right? as in we're in the middle of casting something and we get damaged, that's what animation cancel is, right?
You can just cancel by trying to do stuff. If you try to Guard / Dodge / Jump wihle attacking, your attack will get cancelled into the other action. If you attack or use a command while guarding your attack will come out instantly, cancelling the guard. Commands and finishers also let you cancel out of them, so you dont have to wait for their whole recovery and can also end them early if they are going to miss the enemy. Basically, when you press a button, you will usually get to immediately do what you want instead of having to wait for animations to finish.
Hey, I'm looking for some advice from one streamer to another. I'm trying to stream the KH story, and both times I've streamed, it's had audio mute during specific times in the vod. Any tips to avoid this besides skipping the intro?
