It's always interesting watching other instrument parts transcribed to guitar and seeing the fingering be drastically different than what's typically seen on the instrument.
Larnell Lewis is just incredible !!!Corey your fantastic artistry makes my heart sing !!! Jonathan Asperil after I saw you play on this video , I went outside my house screaming with happiness and started jumping up and down running around the building !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My love to all of you ❤️
It's really happening. 😐 A guy commented on another Lingus cover vid: Complex improv solos are becoming hymns. (Some of us can probably sing this whole thing by now. 😏 I'd really like to see and/or participate in that video sometime. ✋😅) Anyway, you put in the work, and you took us to church. Even the different pedals effects; I didn't imagine that, right? I feel like you even captured the spirit of the performance with that lil dance. 😉👍 Well done. Very well done.
AAAAAHHH Yeah !!!!!!! This is what I ‘ m talking about !!! It just doesn’t get any better than that !!! Thank God for all these most outstanding artists !!! The language of music unite us all . Life imitates Art and Art imitates Life . Life be without music wouldn ‘t be Life !!! I am grateful for the powerful music virtues of all these artists . 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶👍
Kudos dude! It's a badass solo just doing single notes. BUT got to give Cory Henry his due... doing an improvised chord solo at the beginning of his solo, improvising chords behind single notes of his solo, doing a matching improvised, intricate single note solos on 2 different keyboards. Imagine being able to create and play something like that just off the top of your head in the moment.... Absolutely next freakin' level!
My guess is, even Cory Henry would need some time to learn and play his own solo verbatim! It would be like asking someone to say what ever comes to mind for the next 15 minutes.... then repeat it! Great Job!
Dude... This is thefirst video of yours I've ever seen. You are the first person I've ever hit that notification bell for. Insane playing and mad props for that monster solo!
Then it would have probably been too hard to play if the strings wouldn't break first. Beside that, the first half of the solo would have to be tuned down. So OBVIOUSLY this needs redone with him transcribing the second half of the solo to mandolin. Problem solved B) haha
Toni Loopus He already had done his own version of a Lingus solo, just look up Snarky Puppy’s performance at Java Jazz Festival 2015. But yeah, it would be awesome if he also made his own “Cory Henry’s Lingus Solo” video just for fun 😆
You know, it would be great, but I prefer he not spend time on something like that. Mark is a funk master. I learn more from hearing him do funk chords on guitar than I would learn if he transcribed a solo.
So everyone was floored when we first saw Cory henry do this solo. And actually Lingus is kinda hard to listen to without it. And then you go and cover it on guitar. I mean, im speachless. That was amazing Work. How long did it take to get Down? :)
Amazing! When I see shit like this, I'm never sure whether to be inspired about what's possible with practice and dedication... or just totally fucking humbled! Probably the latter :-(
that was amazing man! i can't even imagine how hard was for you to learn that note by note. Just a quick question: after learning this, did learn any scale preferences or patterns that cory tend to use?
Mind Blown...... I've watched LINGUS many many times to witness the brilliance and absolute genius that is Cory Henry - not to mention the rest of this incredible ensemble. Cory's solo goes into the vault of musical history and one of the best solo sections EVER in the history of music. Just transposing this onto sheet music is difficult enough. But now - Jonathan Asperil has the balls to attempt to play this note for note on a another instrument. And My God does he nail it. Just incredible. I've been playing professionally for many many years and there is NO WAY in hell I could ever learn this solo with this much precision, accuracy and style. J.A. you are 'da MAN !! Congrats on what have taken many many hours to accomplish. Well done and thank you !!
Jonathan, beautiful work, damn. Do you mind if I ask if you insight into your method of of working: e.g., Transcribe! software, writing it out THEN learning, doing a chunk a day, doing a part and then getting fluent with it before proceeding, whatever. Any info would be great to hear about, ( I've got pages of stuff I've written out and never memorized - Trane, Joe H, Chick, Wes, etc). It's inspiring to see what focus can achieve. Also, have you abstracted lines or tried playing chunks in different keys ?
Smashed the solo, nice one! What's wrong with letting them finish the song though?! They must have only had about five seconds to go - it's a shame not to leave it in.
i am lost for words, first time i listened to Corey's solo I thought wow, now im seeing this solo played on guitar, and i don't know if wow is sufficient in expressing my awe. indescribable work. transcribe it, please
Holy fuck this is actually no joke the best solo on guitar I have ever heard and I listen to satch halen may page u name it but honestly ik how hard that jazz fusion is and I think your perfecting that shot omfg I can't get over how good this is I listen to this song every day and I'd know and u didn't miss a single fucking note holy shit you are my god now
did you transcribe yourself? or did you find music somewhere? i know the top line has been done, but the chordal stuff is nice touch did you do that yourself?
Dude, I really cried when you played this solo! Since Zhivago on guitar, what can not you play? You can play whatever you want ... Congratulations, man!
@@FaXaN123321 hey sir, you are absolutely amazing. Thanks to you and Cory for sharing your talents with the rest of us who can only sit back and appreciate what you do. Incredible skill and hard work.
You should really send this to snarky puppy or email Michael league "hey so I learned the Lingus key solo on guitar and bet none of your guitarists can play it, can I join?"
You have the write tabs for this. It must be a crime to have this knowledge and not share it with others. Seriously, it'll be perfect if you can write tabs for the rest of us who doesn't have time/skills to learn this by ear
ysahin I thought he used a transcription video for piano because that's the video he commented on that got me to this video. but if he didn't guess not. just look up Corey Henry we lingus solo transcription
Now *that* is how it's done. Best guitar version I've seen and there are some good ones out there. There's some parts where the guitar would need another string to high enough- I see you dropped it down an octave there. Loved how accurate you got the timing.
