Link's Awakening DX Speed Run Any%  

You know it’s gonna be a good run when the splits are “Sword” then immediately “Wind Fish’s Egg”

This is the kind of any% I like the most. The run starts out completely normal until suddenly Link turns around, walks though a wall, enters a tear in the fabric of the spacetime continuum and then walks into the final boss almost the exact same way as intended. Just glitchy enough to be impressive but not too glitchy to where I lose track of what just happened.

You know you have to stop by the second Scott Falco drops the speedrun animation.

This game was the first game I ever had for my gameboy. Never got to complete it as I couldn’t find the last instrument. Anyway glad to see the ending after all these years.

Despite me being 6 years late and a switch remake being made last year, I am impressed with this speedrun and would want to try one soon, specifically the DX port.

I couldn't even fall asleep in so little time, and you managed to strand and awaken Link during what felt like one of those weird, completely random dreams

What a hell of a glitch. Love it. 2:25 to 2:46 is the part I'm still perfecting (but not quite good enough, yet). So far, I've ended up in Kanhalet Castle and Goponga Swamp, as well as soft-locked in a boundary area "outside of" the Tail Cave, while still in that dungeon. For everyday casual use, I feel like Goponga Swamp seems the most promising early game, since where the game "wormholes" the player to allows the player to access the Tail Key early, with some backtracking.

That went from 1 to 100 really quick

Fun fact: Link’s Awakening and Link’s Awakening DX have the same wrong warp glitch, however, Link’s awakening has a slightly different path it prefers, and you can’t actually start the nightmare battle, despite being at the room. I downloaded the old rom to test that, and it’s an interesting result! Wonder why Link jumps below the battle point…

I remember having this on the OG Gameboy when I was little. I got to a dungeon where you had to throw this marble and knock out pillars. I missed one or threw the marble in the wrong area and it glitched the dungeon, and I was not starting over. LOL I also fondly remember calling the Nintendo hint call line, maybe even paid for the phone call, to find out what the hell "Vittles" were, come to find out it meant food or a pineapple. I did finally beat the game, over 30 years later. Hahaha wish I had known I could have done it this way.

I beat the game with 4 dungeons… Yet the cutscene still showed 8 instrumentals, lol. It would’ve been interesting if this was possible on the Switch, but the switch is far more complex, has better depth (in this game, height doesn’t apply to damage.) and you can’t half phase through walls. Maybe someone could see if it looks similar using a mod, but who knows!

I remember as a kid with the original version of the game, i did the wall glitch and I did not know what I did then I kept doing it and the further I got was torture rock dungeon. It took me like 3 years to beat the game due to the fact I did not spoke english at the time. I was like 8 or 9 lol
