Today’s LP12 still strikes me as expensive but I guess that’s what inflation and 45 years does to the price so not entirely Linn’s fault. One observation though having had four Sondeks over those years is how much better made the current version is than those of old. There are some nice touches visible on this video that certainly weren’t there on the earlier models. A couple if observations though, nice touch having that channel for the mains lead but it’s still routed close to that spring and unsecured at the closest point. I always though Linn discouraged mounting and tightening the cartridge while the arm was fitted to the deck to prevent damage to the arm bearings! I didn’t see the dust cover in the video, is it mounted on the underside of the white packaging? Hopefully they’re not charging extra for it.😂 And a final thought, an Ortofon stylus pressure gauge? Surely Linn should be making one by now! The could call it “The Skale” 😂😂 Anyway, thanks for the great video👍👍

What is the 192 conversion and how does it make the soundstage wider? It would seem that a wider soundstage would correlate with a more flat or slightly boosted treble response, which in turn suggests that 192 conversion resulted in deviation/dip in the treble or higher noise and distortion levels. Other than that soundstage is almost exclusively a product of the recording (the mix or the venue + mike set-up if it's a live record). The player can't really do much that have an effect on the soundstage. This sounded really good to me regardless.
