​@@deenajones2002You and me both! Especially the Sunday paper because that was the ONLY time when the comics section was a whole section by itself AND in full color. The rest of the week they were usually a page (or two) in another section in black and white.

@@LatashaTrueHeart yep!! And, in Northern California they also had what was called the pink section. The paper was pink and it had all the 411 on what was happening around the Bay Area. I don’t live in Cali anymore, but I kind of miss that.

The people who tied up the phone lines when they talked for hours are the reason Call Waiting was invented. That busy signal was the WORST (unless you were in trouble and didn't want somebody to pick up)!!!! Then Caller ID came along so you could look to see if you even wanted to answer the second line. 😂 Then voice mail became a thing (to replace the physical answering machines with the tapes and the outgoing messages) for the caller to get their message through even when the person tying up the line wouldn't answer because they didn't want to give up the phone. Star Sixty-Nine (*69 - and who's idea was it to call it THAT?) was necessary for catching prank callers or that chick trying to call your man on the sly. Then Call Block was invented to prevent those people from calling again. SMH... which is crazy because it doesn't even phase the call poachers of today... telemarketers. I don't know what they've done to keep the FCC from banning their predatory behaviors. There should be a law against having disposable phone numbers to keep harassing folks trying to unwind and live life after 5:00 p.m. That's a whoooooole other topic of conversation. 😏😉
