Linus reacts to fan covers…
I sat down to watch as many RU-vid covers of my bands and ex-bands on RU-vid as I could find. They are so different and entertaining!
It’s humbling and inspiring at the same time.

1:38 Okay I HAVE to shout out this guy specifically and give some additional context. Szymon is doing such a brilliant job doing an original line over Chris's composition there for a couple reasons 1) I genuinely believe he's one of the best bassists in the entire scene alongside you and Jeroen. MONSTER player who can do anything thrown his way. True inspirations to a fellow progdeath fretless player like me, the lot of you :) 2) He has a DEEP and informed understanding of neo-classical composing style in prog/tech death, is very influenced by Bach and is also a composer for a band Im a BIG fan of in that genre I'd definitely recommend checking out called Chiliasm alongside co-writer Eetu Hernesmaa who is probably the biggest fan of Hannes's writing and Hannes's approach to structuring songs that I've ever met. And that's saying something coming from me considering Im in a very similar boat as Eetu in that regard. And Eetu's also just a great friend, someone who's on Szymon's skill level but on guitar (& a killer fretless bassist himself actually) and great person to make music with (he's no joke in 20 bands including all of mine) Great video with some cool insights to share with everyone btw like how that one Ten Sepiroth riff was the first one you wrote for Obscura. Although thinking back I seem to recall I mighta been talking with Hannes one time about how you had a riff or two that ended up on Akroasis written while he was in the band that was kinda "thrashy". Love that riff and love your writing style in general :) And I really have always appreciated that you took the time to tab out and release exactly how you played the stuff. I have the Diluvium bass tab book :) Always was a bit saddened that Jeroen's stuff was never tabbed and released. Especially Omnivium cos the bass sits a bit lower on that album than Cosmogenesis and thus as a result you don't see as many covers from it, despite it being my personal favorite. Diluvium is a close second though in huge part cos of you Rafael and Sebastian's writing ;) By the way I seem to vaguely remember at a couple points you uploaded short sections of... I think it might have been Paranoid Alkaloid and Across the Mist of Broken Glass (or some other track) from Metatheosis? I love that album so much man haha Im so into Noneuclid I was wondering if you had full playthroughs of those in the vault or if you just made those short clips. If the former then GOD those would be so cool to see!!! My favorite piece that Flo EVER wrote and released that you played on though is None So Lucid. The polytonality you're playing in the first verse is ICONIC (pun not intended lol) and unprecedented in metal imo. One of my favorite examples of a bassline you play that does something innovative and perfectly serves the song

Sebastian is one the drummers that got me into the drumming world in terms of technicality and playing style in general and drums have always been my favourite instrument. Also, i recently got brutally hooked to the fretless bass world and you Linus are one of the few guys that contributed to this haha ! You, and the rest of the fellows of Obsidious and Alkaloid are true musicians and artists ! Keep up the amazing work ! Ps : I recommand to make a second version of this video if there are more videos that you can react to !
