Habe gerade dieses Video im Netz gefunden. Wie schaut es denn bei euch auf eurem Schreibtisch aus? So wie beim Herr Torvald? Mal ganz interessant zu sehen wie ich finde.
Don't see it that way. Thousands of years ago, a simple man discovered fire, that was the base of the next civilizations. Every little step to progress is made everytime. Maybe these days internet is a very important thing, but a hundred years later, that would be just like fire compared to what we have now.
@@lerdev Idk what you're insinuating lol, having a neat and organized desk/room doesn't affect what you can get done at all. It certainly doesn't for me at least. My shit's always messy.
@@Scriabin_fan or math, surprisingly... Fields medal is the next best thing but you have to be under 40. Mathematicians are arguably way cooler and more creative than Nobel laureates, but get almost no recognition for their work.
Well think of it this way, Nobel made his prize to encourage others of his field for something. That's just what he did. Other groups of people can come up with their own prizes and awards systems. But also maybe people like Linus don't want anything, and as for mathematicians, I don't think you're wrong. I haven't heard of anything contemporary in mathematics full stop.
This guy transformed the world with his work without marketing tricks, without messing with users, without cheating other companies and without stealing anything from anyone. He is admired all over the world and is still a simple person like that. What a wonderful example. I'm proud to have followed the trajectory of Linux since 1994, when in college I received a box with 40 floppy disks from a Slackware distribution from a professor.
No, he's talking about Linus, the creator of Linux. Richard Stallman was another instrumental figure in the FOSS world and started GNU. @@MacbookProWizard
One of the best programmers in the world with a super basic setup. Meanwhile all of these instagram influencers with 5 monitors and rgb crap and $500 keyboards to build a todo list app.
Mine's worse. His old desk is not bad at all compared to mine . . . although a much greater fraction of the stuff on mine is paper, so it looks more like the editor's desk in Shoe.
@LittleRainGames, You are not the only one, I am trying to cleanup my attic space now for over 10 years but still no success, his room is perfect clean compared to my attic space.
He is an amateur. I myself do all my solitaire playing from terminal windows and watch youtube by reading the binaries of the video files themselves. I don't even have a mouse. I do all my photoshop retouching and video editing with C comands. People say they look like garbage, but I can't tell because I've never seen them myself. Also, I fuck my wife through various male escort services. Saves me time and they satisfy her better than I ever could. It's just more efficient overall.
That's a weird statement, it's like saying "Facebook isn't finished" because it technically is? Sure it's recieving new features and improvements are being made but that doesn't make it incomplete, it's evolving?@@rflair
Linus Torvalds really is one of the most innovative people who created the most important thing on the planet and the most widely used software on the ground.
@@petesmith7804 computers were invented to run Linux and condoms were invented to give people more free time to spend on making and using Linux instead of raising 7+ children.
Honestly it's ironically the perfect guy to hang out and laughing taking beers. Due his acid sense of humor and being a computer science hero, talking with him about either software and/or mundane things should be a memorable experience.
Every time I convince my self that I need a multi monitor setup with an expensive mechanical keyboard and some over priced mouse like the MX master 3s, I come back to this video. Thank you Linus.
@@badsubtitles498 even if you know how to touch type, there are some keys that you only need once in a blue moon but always being able to see them is great.
Most people that care about RGB tend to be gamers. Any developer who is not in the intersection between programming and gaming wouldn’t care lol. RGB looks terrible imo too. Generally, the more uniform a setup is, the better.
He has done so much more then replace the OS on your laptop. So much of the world runs on Linux from servers, laptops, IoT and others. He has done something that literally touches almost every part of the modern world.
one of the best developers in our time has a really basic workplace setup, and I, who write garbage code, have spent thousands of dollars to make my workplace look professional
he didn't have 3 monitors, expensive mouse and keyboard, full of RGB gaming PC with latest graphic card, but yet he invented Linux. moral of story upgrade yourself not your setup 😅
Are you an idiot or what? The guy has a full blown 3d printer on his desk and he has a fancy threadmill standing desk. And why would you need the latest graphic card or rgb to invent Linux?
This video should be watched by all the "productivity gurus" that spend hours on their desk setup and wake up at 4 am every day lol. That sure didn't stop Linus
Something Interesting: Linus work from home at decades. Look at the simplicity of his home office. Now a bunch of us want lights, computer with lights and lots of distracts tools. The contant work keeps in simplicity. Thanks for this video.
Most of the others will say: What tf is Linux? Only OS known to ordinary people are Windows, MacOS, iOS (I doubt that - they just call it "Apple") and Android. Linux is as irrelevant to normal people as it was 10, 20, 30 years ago. On the tech-side (servers, companies, it-afficionados) it's a whole other story.
Love and Respect to King Torvalds of Linux. May his knights of Debian and of the RedHats prevail, thus his kingdom will endure and his mission cannot fail.
Linus Torvalds is a genius who never stole anything but was still able to give the most secure and advanced operating system to the world to possible run every machine on this earth. Can we say the same for masterminds behind Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, Adobe, Oracle, and many other so called geniuses?
Can't believe I used to be this guy's neighbor and pump his gas at the local gas station in Lake Oswego, years before I even touched linux on my own system.
Loving how he has a "set" of penguins, as he gave away duplicates -- that's so Computer Science. It's funny how easy it is to hoard stacks of older HDD/SDDs
This guy is the most successful software engineering manager in the history, he practically makes thousands of programmers (some are the best ones) to work for free, 8am-12am.
Linus is such a Genius, and humble, I met him once at the annual Linux Picnic in Silicon Valley, and I also worked at Valinux in 1999, our CEO was a good friend of Linus and he would visit from time to time. I am surprised that Google hasn't made Linus a VP of Chrome and Android development. I wonder what computer he uses that has no fans and makes no noise, possibly a Mac Book Air with Linux installed?
im like him, when my desktop gets too messy i just delete everything and later that day realize that i forgot to push my code on my repo before deleting it (:
He kind of looks like a penguin… not in a bad way though… he’s just a bit penguin-y. I’m a brand new Linux user & I’m really happy with what he created !
Most of the people have no idea what that man did for our technology era. I hope that this will change sometime. Linux is the best thing I have learned and still learning everyday. It is still doesn't stop to amaze me, how elegant it is, when you know how to use it. 😁 You just have no idea how much linux containers are deployed and how much hardware is working on linux.
@@craftrumzen2393 Only non-technical people say Linux is crap. Linux is widely respected in the software development community and Microsoft, IBM, Netflix, Google, Uber, Meta, Salesforce, all top 500 supercomputers use Linux or another unix variant. Mac (Unix certified) is also widely used by developers. Windows is the black sheep here
Me : I should buy a productive desk ASAP After seeing this vid ... especially in this timeline - 2:32 Me : I am having a desk better than Linus no need to upgrade lol
Waking up at 7:30 WITH KIDS is like a dream when compared to my country. You have to wake up at 4AM because nothing is ever anywhere nearby and you have to travel, work starts at 7 and school starts at 7 or 8. You get home at 7PM.
@@DanielChristensen-mb5qr Well, yeah. Scandinavian countries aren't stupid slave work camps like most slavic countries where you're expected to have no life at all and only work for corporations for barely anything more than minimum wage which is 600€(not enough for paying anything at all).
