Pleeeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeee keep content like this coming. I know, I know, it all depends on total views and revenue it brings in lol. Hope it brings enough in to make it worth your while!
I love the way you teach something. Your tone of voice, examples, well prepared content, funny stuff and so much more. Really glad to see new videos about your old vids style. Always been a fan of your work. Cheers...
I started watching you way back in 2011, but I had to go away when I saw that your content had been changed, but now seeing you back to your professional content is is just amazing. Great instructor that knows how to teach well.
ooooohmigod!!! --- you are back in this arena? YES!!! Everything you do, on any subject, is wonderful. Philosophical, technological, all of it!!! Your natural ability to teach IT is beyond compare, thank you!!!
😝 I love the Linux introduction!! Linux seems to be embedded everywhere with the phenomenon of rapidly developing IOT things. I wonder if Linus ever thought his “project” would extend this far? Keep up the great 👍🏻 learning content!
I'm in an ITSA program right now, but I spend more time watching you to get clarity on things! Thank you so much for what you do, you were instrumental in my understanding of AD for my MTA Server Admin certification, now I'm about to take Linux Essentials and back to your channel I went!
Started listening to your videos on the work van radio today and I can say your videos are very informative audio only style and a great way to make the day go by!
Linux is just an awesome Operating System in general. The best ever made! Linux has been simplified so much over the years with ubuntu and with so many resources out there to learn everything about linux.
Thank you! Much appreciated It IS easy to learn. Especially now with the resources and having 3 linux experts helping out. 👍 Just don't be afraid to try it out n ask
Thank you so much for your videos!!! I had an interview with Google with unfamiliar OS round, your videos helped me out a lot!! I got the job too.. Thank you so much ♥ keep up the great work!
This video couldn't have come at a better time for me because I'm currently trying to decide if I should learn more about Windows server or Linux server. Been casually experimenting with linux for years but I'm really going to dig in and learn all I can this time.

As a guy works with servers does a lot of sys administration, like a looot, I'm telling you go with Linux. Even Microsoft is selling mostly Linux on Azure so yeah... Go with Linux.
So if I understand correctly, Linux is just a kernel. Which is why it's not an OS, unless paired with a software like GNU. Hence why it's considered as GNU Linux.
but thing is , it doesn't have to be gnu software combined with the linux software. when i say "linux" im talking about every single combination with linux kernel. alpine linux for instance is a great slap in the face to people who keep "correcting" me on that.
GNU -> "...horrible branding". It was a fun pun to talk about back in the day, but yeah it doesn't meet 2019 marketing standards, even thought I personally appreciate that you mention it on the video. \o/
Watching you from that alternative operating system. Must admit that I also drop the GNU when I discuss this alternative OS. Retired technical writer, so I guess I'm getting sloppy in my old age. Pity, but using GNU Linux we are. MS Windows 10 was our tipping point, and regret the change we do not. But then all we want is a stable and secure operating system that gives us a usable desktop. Was not hard to install or maintain, and kudos to the Linux Mint folks!
... stop trying to humiliate a gimpy old man... just remember this day when you're a broken down 40 year old... The Epoxy is coming! The epoxy comes for us all ;)
The first thing you need to know about Linux is the first time you load it on your hard drive...everything breaks! Well, almost. You are going to run into problems and you should use this as an opportunity to learn how to solve problems in Linux. For instance, if you can't get your machine to talk to your printer, find a fix for it so you can learn how to find drivers, etc. It's a good thing to learn, at the very least to know that there's an alternative to Windows and Mac OS. Yes, you can run it off a thumb drive, and I do recommend this to get a feel for Linux. But if you have a machine you don't mind dual booting in, or wiping clean, then I say take it for a spin all the way. I have a couple dedicated Linux machines and otherwise use a number of Windows machines for my business. Linux is just a hobby for me, and desktop Linux at that. I run Mint with the Cinnamon desktop and it works great.
Excellent video. Thank you for the very clear descriptions and presentation style. It is refreshing to hear this information from someone who is not petty partisan Linux distribution fan boy. I look forward to your continued Linux coverage. :-)
I remember using Lynx (the text only terminal based web browser he is talking about in the video) in the late 90s. And as bad as web browsers where back then, it was still terrible :) The one thing it had goin for it imo. is that it did not download any additional files like images, background images or thumbnails. So on our slow dial-up connections at that time, it was blazingly fast to brows with :)
The command line syntax is quite arbitrary. The commands are usually provided by a program called Bash, and are different from the DOS/Windows ones. There are alternatives to Bas even within Linux. But there is a version of Bash for Windows, and OTOH you can easily map DOS style commands (or anything you like) to Bash commands in Linux. For example in Linux you can map the DOS _"dir"_ to the Bash _"ls"._
Command line text browser are awesome. No ads, no distractions. The only drawbacks is not having images(unless you use w3m) or video and no JavaScript support
I never got these questions in Linux class! The Instructed walked us through a VM creation process and then turned us on playing with some form of red hat back in 2008.
Nice intro...very informative... now you have to make a guide (step by step) how to use a lnux server distro as an DHCP / DNS and Active Directory and some simple group policy like stuff :)
WOW GREAT BASIC and simple EXPLANATION....Maybe you can do the same for basic commands or creating some server on Linux or something...THank you for the great content
can you share what your other videos will be about? would love to understand/learn more about managing/administrating Linux devices (including desktops not just servers). what is the equal of GP or MDM in the Linux world and so on … thanks
The hardest part of writing an OS is the kernel. GNU/Hurd was intended to be the kernel for the gnu project...but it was a little bit too ambitious and has been in development hell ever since.
Richard Stallman got distracted into writing GNU Emacs, which ended up practically like an operating system itself. He even created an Emacs religion. In the time he wasted on Emacs he failed to get Hurd done.
I don't understand the comment that Windows is like a Swiss Army knife, while Linux best suits a single purpose. In both cases they come with the basic OS functions plus some default apps like a text editor, browser, simple graphics and even small games. You install or buy the apps you need. Both come in server and desktop versions, although with Linux the only difference between them is the default apps you get.
sir i am kali linux install by bootable pandrive rufus but my linux under the any toolkit i am open to terminal unswer became to command is no command please help me sir
As a university student who is about to start his first year in a Computer Science degree, thank you for making this tutorial! Apparently my course uses Linux (Ubuntu) for development so this is going to help tremendously! :)
Im trying to watch this on a Linux PC (Manjaro) and i just get a "Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available" error message.. all other youtube videos play without a hitch.. oh Linux, you so silly sometimes..
Red Hat trainer: "Yeah, I don't understand why anybody uses a normal web browser..." Yep, the culture of out-of-this-world geeks/nerds are so deeply rooted into the GNU/Linux world. Many GNU/Linux users still use CLI even when there are easier, simpler, equally powerful GUI applications out there. And this culture is not going away any time soon I'm afraid!:)
I wanted to put Mint or Pop on my living room computer that was given to me. However, it comes with activated Win10 and Win10 works with everything including drivers, etc. However, it just feels all wrong because I search some really weird shit on this computer. I use a VPN but I'm thinking that Linux is more secure. I adjusted all my privacy settings on Windows and Edge, but it down feel right.
dude plz help me out with this linux stuff via call or something like that because even though i watch all these detailed videos about how to use Linux software i cant figure anything out like hot to put games on here with wine like stuff like that bc even the wine stuff is confusing i would greatly appreciate ur help,
i want to learn linux, is there any sugesttion for a good virtual box? the thing is i'm below beginner "tech guy" and i can't afford to lose my only laptops if something went wrong when i install linux ,Asus Fx something (all AMD)
sweet, I always wanted to learn linux, but never got around to it and although arduino is cool, I'm honestly not watching all of your videos about it, but I think I will when it comes to linux :), thanks
"maybe I should be a florist" is what I am thinking right now. Hopefully by the end of the video I will understand this and not be a florist because I would suck at that too
