In this video, we are going to discuss Linux Patch Management. This is mostly asked interview questions. We have explained Linux Patch Management in a detailed manner.
Usefull videos as always.... just need more elabration for the biggners and ofcaurse some speed slowness also to have more clearity for those who are new to linux😊👍
I use to yum update for just to make sure my new installation will run successfully on it and to make the server fast , never knew this is called patching 😂
This needs to be involve lot more steps .. pre patching report, mount file system backup/. , boot image creation, rollback plan, sanity checks post patching. Etc
It's nice video, anyone can easily understandable. One doubt, If we are entering/pressing return key in middle of installation, there is no impact right in installation?
Thanks for the video. What in case you have multiple VMs and you want to carry out your patches process using ansible tool and red hat satellite. I need to know how you have to check the # of packages to be installed and upgraded at once?
You have provided the information which is basic and easily availble on net. What I was expecting is : 1). How to exclude certain patches. For example , I found 50 available patches with "yum check-update". I want to exvlude 5 patches and just want to update 45. So how to do that? 2). What is command to rollback patches. For example , I issued command "yum update -y" and 50 patches updated. Now I want to remove all 50. How to do that?

Hii i have one doubt what is process before doing patching like which teams should be there and approval process can u plz make a proper document or video for this topic
Hi, Basically 2 teams are included: 1.) Application team (team whose application is running on particular server) 2.) Linux Administrator (who will perform the patching after confirmation from application team). Application team will give the confirmation when the patchinga activity needs to be performed and they will stop their necessary service related with app runnng on particular server.
