There is virtually an unlimited number of variables in "bc", all comprised of the first character being a lower case letter. For example, you can make a variable named "hello", or "myvar", etc. hello=25 myvar=10 You can also use the "_" character in the name of a variable (but not as the first character). my_pi=3.14 I am mentioning the above, because it is probably easier to name your variables with more than a single character.
