September 1st, 2006 - Kayaking trip on Linville Gorge in North Carolina with Spencer Cooke of Effort Inc, Nathan Silsbee of Team Riot, Robert Peerson of Wave Sport, Mefford Willams and Nate Elliott.
Did the Linville Gorge Wilderness Loop with my brother and had a blast! I recorded audio of a fire we made down on Spence Ridge right before the river and made some sleep music out of it too! I listen to it probably once a week definitely my favorite place on Earth!
very cool. it is an incredible place. stay tuned because i'm gonna have another creek paddling segment online soon with a bunch more linville footage. some of the same rapids but with different video angles and some more rapids that weren't in the last video.
The Federal Aviation Administration is densely concentrating departing and arriving commercial jet flights from Charlotte Douglas Airport on low-flying GPS precise “rails” referred to as an R-NAV rail, endangering Linville Gorge and Wilson Creek. 500 daily low-altitude flights (4,000 ft), over these areas.. Who Caused the Endangerment? Mr. Douglas R. Murphy, FAA Regional Administrator, Southern Region P.O. Box 20636 Atlanta, Ga. 30320 Telephone 404-305-5000.
Yea its definately class 5, The whole place is pretty much gouged out with undercuts and sieves, Very tight lines, the drops just aren'rt the super clean easy biguns that some are used to seeing.
there are various classes of rapids in the gorge but it should be considered a class 5 run due to the remoteness of the gorge and danger of many of the rapids.
Thanks, that was a medium level I think. It definitely gets run a bit lower from time to tome. Yeah, most people get it down to about 2-3 portages at the right water level and the bold only portage once. Glad to stroll you down mammary lane.
