Back when Zoo Tycoon was released, several lion subspecies were accepted. However as of today, only two subpecies are valid: the northen lion (Panthera leo leo) and the southern lion (Panthera leo melanochaita). In the video I used the west african lion, which today is just considered a population of northern lion. Sorry for the long text, but I hope I made things clear.
