Im considering this grill or Napoleon prestige. Some people telling me to go toward Napoleon because of the better warranty. Did you have similar thoughts.
Hi Mke. Thanks for the video! Looking at the same grill or a blaze. I've read about flareups and unevenness on the Lion. You've commented on evenness, but wondering if you can comment on flareups with and without the ceramic flame-tamers (I've seen mixed reviews on those)? Did you figure out the problem with the sear burner? Thanks
Marc Evans Hey Marc. I did another video of cooking some pork on it that I will post. I think the flare ups are handled pretty well. There was one section that seemed to burn hotter but I think all grills have a sweet spot and it's just part of learning your grill. I purchased through Shoppers Choice and Lion got me another sear burner within like 5 days. The customer service has been great. I'm not sure if it's bad material or what. I did ask but haven't heard back...
thanks, if you're up for it, BBQ guys did an evenness test on some grill by spreading toast across the surface to see which got burnt vs just toasted. It would be an interesting video ;)
Thanks Mike, nice video. Are you still happy with this grill? How is it holding up? How hot does it get when all the burners are on/you let it heat up? I'm looking at the same NG grill. Thanks.
Micah Lenz I have enjoyed it. Definitely an upgrade from my old Weber. The hood is heavy and durable. The grill does get dirty but cleans up nicely. I had a bird trying to nest in the top drawer cause there's a small space so I blocked it with something. I wish the knobs had a better way to gauge where you are in heating besides High and Low. You have to eye ball your settings to match up heat. The sear burner's mesh lining on top has cracked 2 times on me and becomes an open flame. Lion has replaced it once and am in process of it getting replaced again. I'm checking to see what the issue is. It does cook pretty even. IMO it seems to take longer to heat probably cause of gas vs propane. Other than that I'm satisfied. Let me know if you have any other questions.
tommy manning I'm sorry Tommy I did not see your question. I thought I read somewhere that they were made in USA but who knows with all the different parts. The company is in California. Here's a link to their site. lionbbq.com/archives/1264
Bill Kay I am happy with it. My main concerns were doing natural vs propane. I chose natural and haven't had any problems in regards to heating up the grill.
I am. We moved a year ago and I brought it with us. The light function for the inside of grill went out like a month after getting it and Lion gave me a replacement part but still doesn’t work. The Sear Burner option is a good idea but the sear burner mesh just burns a hole right through it so don’t even use it anymore. The rotisserie I have used once and worked fine. The grill does get hot up to about 500 off my gas line. Hotter if it was propane which is typical. I would say it works fine but for the price point I’m disappointed that the light stopped working and sear burner was a bust. I think there are better options at this price point.
