I think it depends on the version of the story there used to be some old lion king books that give the origin of Scar and Mufasa but to be fair this long before the lion guard so it could either be non canon or retconned

Sadly he loved Taka too much. I like to think Scar was once an amazing lion but that resentment should have been addressed by their parents. Both could have ruled.

The problem with this Lion King/Guard portrayal is that spotted hyenas actually do kill about 55-95% of what they eat, primarily young, elderly, or sick animals, and are essential to their ecosystems. In areas that where spotted hyenas have been extirpated in real life, the ecosystems have significantly decreased in health and there is much more illness going around. But yes, their role as occasional scavengers is also vital as well. All in all, you do need a healthy population of spotted hyenas to maintain a healthy savannah ecosystem. Striped hyenas and brown hyenas do scavenge more frequently than hunt though.

I think if Mufasa had banished Scar, it seems fine to me, Scar would have already been seen as an enemy not to trust him, in addition to keeping Simba away from him. But in any case he would have formed an alliance with the hyenas to enter the kingdom with violence, but he would not have been recognized as king to being banished as you said. Also, the reason why Mufasa could banish him with his power as king, in first place, was because Scar had destroyed his own Lion Guard, as was revealed in the serie, right? Furthermore, Scar was already dangerous enough within the Kingdom working behind his brother Mufasa's back and at the same time being close.

If a banished scar had attacked with hyenas while mufasa was alive mufasa would have had all the lioness and every animal in the pridelands behind him. Most noticeably elephants, hippos and giraffes. Scar wouldn't have had a chance.

Hyenas eat everything even the "nasty" bits till nothing is left. HYENAS are natural pervs that violate organisms till they are nothing but bones. XD

Simba had a half sibling. Disney just doesn’t want you to know how Lion prides actually work. There were two male lions in that pride. One king, and one rogue. If Mufasa did not father Nala, then Scar did. So either Nala, is his half sister, or first cousin. This was the main issue with Kovu and Kiara. Originally Kovu WAS Scar’s son. That’s why he looked just like him. But having Kiara fall in love with her cousin was a no no, so Disney changed his lineage last minute.

@@UmmYeahOk Don’t know the episode but Rafiki briefly makes reference to Nala’s father in such a way that said father couldn’t be Mufasa or Scar. Nothing about him is really revealed not even a name but it is implied that he was a probably a pride-less lion. Edit: as Rafiki refers to him as Kion’s grandfather.

@@stubbornspaceman7201found the clip, and yes, as your edit stated, he merely says “Kion’s grandfather.” They thought the rock painting predicted the future, but instead it told of the past. The guard assumed the painting was of Kion, but instead it was his grandfather. This cub looks like it could have been Mufasa, but in no way looks like Scar. Isaac actually did a video on this subject, and even referred to this very Lion Guard clip, but Isaac also stated that because adult Simba, in the first movie, told Nala that “you’re starting to sound like my father,” rather than “our father,” then that means Mufasa isn’t the father too, and that if he were the father, that would have put Nala next in line to inherit the thrown, and Scar would have to have killed her as well. So, it could very well have been rouge lion, but prides in real life don’t really act like that, despite the importance of biodiversity. They are also more of a matriarchy. Nala couldn’t inherit the thrown because Sarabi is the queen, not Sarafina. But in that same since that means Scar could not be king.

It probably would’ve prevented a lot in the future. Also, from the book, it kind of looks like scar was always trouble from being jealous of Mufasa yet he got his scar because he was trying to get Mufasa killed. But in the lion guard version they make it look like scar never was evil had no problems with his brother not that we ever saw the relationship from the start. But when he encounters the strange lion, along with a cobra, infecting him with the venom, giving him the scar he had. The strange lion, though I’m pretty sure was lying told him the way to cure this problem is if you do everything I say. To which scar replied by launching the strange lion and snake to their deaths. Now knowing the lion guard only it kind of makes it look like scar could’ve gotten help like as soon as he got infected with that snakebite similar to what kion went through. If he had just got this thing cured from the beginning, he probably never would’ve become who it was. Such as growing pits of jealous hatred for his brother, even trying to use the lions of the lion guard to overthrow Mufasa plus killing them. Along with killing his brother in the near future, trying to murder his own nephew. I feel like if scar had gotten cured you probably never would’ve been the way he was. Along with trying to murder his own nephew, and so on and so forth.

There is a really interesting Lion king comic called "Disney Villains: Scar" It takes place shortly after Scar's argument at the beginning of the lion king movie and gives some interesting details, such as how Scar aligned with the Hyena's, what the other animals thought of Scar and more interestingly, what Rafiki thought of Scar.

Looking at "be prepared" scar had hundreds of hyenas behind him. Unless the majority either starved or moved on he should have been more than able to take on simba, maybe a couple dozen lioness at most, pumbaa and rafiki.

Simba shouldn't have sentenced Zira's cubs to live under her thumb. She was clearly crazy and abusive yet Simba banished children to live such a harsh life. Mufasa never would have done that.

Hey Issac I have 2 ideas for a topics you could do for videos cause these ideas I'm curious about like I watched the lion king so many times and I remember there was a scene where Simba lied to his mother Sarabi by saying him and Nala were going to the waterhole and I also realized that it's not just Scar's fault for putting Simba in danger it was also Sarabis fault cause Sarabi didn't bother to ask if Simba was telling the truth and another idea is about Kovu and Kiara cause in lion King 2 Kovu says to Kiara let's run away together and start a pride all our own what if Kovu and Kiara did run away and start a pride all their own how is that gonna change the events of the lion guard?

From the looks of it, in Lion King 2, Zira herself was most likely still a cub when Simba was a cub. Maybe she is a bit older, but not THAT much older. Besides, i have it in my own headcanon, and there may be some evidence for this, is that Zira was actually an outlander who joined Scar's Pride. This seems backed up by the fact that she seems to have a damaged ear and a knack for violence, something that would be expected from the brutal life of an outlander, but not really someone who was born inside Pride Rock.

Issac, you make very good points. I truly agree with everything you said. I think if Mufasa would've just done the neccessary thing and remove Scar from the royal family, the Pride Lands would've been much better off. And, as much as I hate tin say this, I think that Mufasa would also need to banish Scar's lion followers, unless they decide to become loyal to him. Maybe he would only have to banish Zira. Or she would leave with Scar voluntarily. Also, I would hope that if Scar continued to cause problems, that Mufasa would put the safety of his family and subjects ahead if his love for his brother and end him if necessary.

I think the main reason Mufasa didn't banish him is because Scar wouldn't survive on his own. That and he probably couldn't - or refused - to see Scar's evil and still saw him as his misfit overly troublemaker brother he could still somehow make him watm up to the rest of the pride. At the end of the day Scar wasn't loyal to his family and pride as Mufasa was.

I think that even though Ahadi, Mufasa and Scar’s father, asked Scar to support Mufasa in his reign as King of the Pride Lands in any capacity, Scar will resent the idea of playing second fiddle to his brother and he might seek to murder his father and brother just to get the crown for himself. Scar would rather commit cold blooded murder (regicide/patricide/fratricide, that’s a triple whopper) in order to secure absolute authority rather than accept the role of being his brother’s subordinate.

Even if Mufasa banish Scar I don't think he wouldn't Mufasa love his brother and part of the family even if Scar would try something bad on him I would think Mufasa would just beat him and make Scar fix his mistake. I could imagine if Scar having a good life until everything changed for him maybe Mufasa would have no choice but to banished him just like how Simba would do with the outsiders. I do kinda wish for a Mufasa and Scar tv series tell us the story of what made Scar to a real villain.

You know what Simba having a younger sibling would also change? Kion and his guard would probably be in-training during the series of the Lion Guard, or just being normal kids. That would have been nice to see them not pressured with adult responsibilities.

I think it’s interesting to compare this story with real life lions. In real life lion brothers are ultra loyal to one another. When they take over a pride, a group of lion brothers are a formidable force against any challenging males who would attempt to usurp their prides.

I think that if scar were banished, then he would most likely try and take the throne by force through constant bloody combat and yeah, the hyena army wouldn’t be able to take pride rock, but it would lead to a lot of innocent animals losing their lives, does disrupting the circle of life Mufasa chose between a few years of being under scars rule, which wasn’t an guarantee or constantly losing friends, loved ones and innocent animals through a constant war for the pride

Okay here’s a major hot take when it comes to animated sequels Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea >>>>> Lion King II: Simba’s Pride I mean I don’t hate Simba’s Pride I do have some nostalgia for it and I do still see some good things in it but it hasn’t really aged all that well in terms of its story and writing and I don’t think it really connects that well with the original film with its story and characterization. Now Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea to an extent also has its own fair share of problems but I find it’s story and writing problems to be a bit more forgivable. Whereas Simba’s Pride just as so many plot holes and inconsistencies and some poor writing choices. I mean seriously people criticize the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy for “not having a well planned out story under different writers and directors” yet no one these days seems to get on Simba’s Pride or a few other Disney sequels cases for the same thing only a lot for egregious.

This video is why Mufasa being adopted as an orphaned cub in the new 2024 film won't work. Mufasa and Scar's relationship as brothers was so crucial to the plot and made so much sense than this new story we're getting.

The Lion Guard butchered Scar very much that i'm surprised how the show kept going. The whole "good lions vs evil lions" made me rolling my eyes.. They went on with the evil lion plot, but never expanded on his childhood and he took that turn. Couldn't be that random lion and cobra friend.

@Tacorikit the problem I have is how they vilify certain animals. Hyenas Jackals cobras. They should be educating children about the importance of these animals. Hyenas help prevent disease by eating sick and weak animals. Cobras keep rodents in check and jackals spread seeds by eating barries.

It's true hyenas are scavengers and the pickup crew that is the circle of life true purpose however the evil hyenas took advantage of that went too far and did not respect the circle of life that's why they were banished the Lions were banished for following scar and attacking Simba in attacking Simba was not a cool idea it's a pretty offensive crime however as years passed had descendants that were still in the pride lands because of what their families did but they were not responsible for the crimes their parents committed however the private lenders did not see it that way not until years later when kion got the roar and this young lion would change the fate of the pride lands forever

And scar the roar at one time he was an amazing lion he was not always the scar we see today originally mufasaand scar work work clothes in there youth with great rulls and gifts one leader of the lion garde woth amzing super powers and the other a king of the kingdom but one day young scar became kind of jealous as mufasa began to tease him and be kind of rude with him not treat him respectfully though he did not hate his brother at the time there was still conflict but then one day scar was approached by an evil lion who offered him a gift very bad gift that turned out to be a curse taking him into the mountains telling him he could be the most powerful thing in the universe but then backstabbing him having an evil snake bite him giving him a scar it poisoned him and his mind turning him evil rage and hate causing him to tron on his brother attempts to kill his brother and take over the even striking the lion guard out of evil but he lost the roar have to think of a new way the rule the pride lands he targeted young Simba

It's a Disney movie what are we supposed to expect, it's not logical. Everything from The Little Mermaid who couldn't write a letter and give it to Prince Eric saying, I am the mermaid who rescued you I am currently under a spell, if you kiss me I can marry you in gain my freedom back. Or to your example, Vanishing scar with a pretty much gone rid of the entire problem of the movie. No regicide, and no messy thing about the pridelands being destroyed by hyenas and whatever lion was loyal to scar. You could say that. Vanishing scar, was a plot hole, that people watching the movie can't just overlooked.

One reason I think Mufasa didn't banish Scar was simple. As the old saying goes "A wise man keeps his friends close and his enemies closer". If he had banished Scar, he would had lost track of him and would had been unable to know in advance what he was planning. Besides. It had been a BORING movie if Mufasa had banished Scar before the events of the main film.

*If Mufasa had Kiara instead of Simba, Scar would’ve actually had a character arc for the better.* Since Scar was next in line anyway, so he’d of been arranged to marry/mate Kiara, so he’d get his crown & so would Kiara, so there’d be no reason for him to murder Mufasa. In fact he might’ve been able to make genuine peace. And Scar would of had the love/acceptance and family he’s always wanted and frankly, _needed_ to heal the scars on his heart. Also you _know_ Kovu would definitely be their son, just look at him, then at Kiara & Scar and consider things. // Fr, TLK 2, feels like that Back to the Future (or a certain episode of Futurama) where the protagonist nearly hooks up w his own mother/grandmother, w her non-the-wiser 👀💦

Isaac Carlson that would've solved much more problems like preventing Simba from being tempted by Scar to go the the Elephant Graveyard ( Scar exploited Simba's curiosity and desire to prove himself to his father). Mufasa really made a big mistake keeping Scar around and made everything worse for the Pridelands by letting Scar remain living in there until his death.

In the first place, Scar had not yet mated with Zira. The plots for all three Lion King franchises would all be very different, and in that case character development would be too cramped.

You are certainly very creative with your ideas here. Zira was one of my favorite characters in the sequel and I’m happy to hear someone else say that they consider her an interesting villain. I have heard other people say that they didn’t like her or even believing that she existed in the background of the first movie. I can respect that they still have an attachment to the first movie. However it certainly doesn’t ruin the story for me. Scar is certainly one of my favorite characters too. I definitely appreciate that you included both characters prominently in your storytelling. Excellent job!

I feel like Mufasa was a bad Brother and I wouldn't like him either, Scar is a more enjoyable character to watch than Simba or Mufasa...They're sooo BORING like We get it You're The New Ruler, You're supposed to be a tough lion...but You take it worse than Scar.

This would have only make things worse remember Scar was under the effects of very powerful Cobra Venom. Although it isn't an excuse but he was filled with hatred and bitterness and that only exasperated things. Scar was only bitter in planning and scheming now that Spanish he has motivation. The reason why Mufasa kept him around with the keep an eye on him now he doesn't know what he's doing. Now that scars banished he can do things now without Mufasa's watch. I think scar wouldn't have gone to the hyenas because the hyenas wouldn't respect him anymore. He has nothing now he doesn't have an insight into the pride land. Even though he's the rightful King and he can promise them and make deal he has nothing. So I would like to think scar wouldn't go off and make his own Pride for Revenge. And instead of assassinate Mufasa this would have been a full-blown War. Now with the his own pride and the force you can fight the pridelands and also on top of that he can now get alliances of the hyenas.

Great video, I actually believe one of two things would've occurred if this had happened. Either Scar would have walked away but still wanted revenge and eventually would attempt to take Pride Rock by force or if he had Zira before his banishment, he could've taken any lions that believed in his cause and they could've left to form a pride elsewhere and Scar could've moved on. I get from both inspiration from Hamlet and story wise why Mufasa couldn't turn his back on his brother, but sadly family trust can be taken for granted by some individuals, and I think if Scar didn't hold resentment to his brother and explained himself, maybe things could've worked out better for them. Luckily I have my own story with Mufasa surviving the stampede but giving the illusion Scar's plan worked.

I miss your Lion Guard content so much and it's one of the best Disney Junior shows around for the whole family.
