I have been playing Lion Rampant for several years. I like them very much and have now bought the new version two. I review the new version and tell you what has changed.
Links below if the two other videos I mention. Enjoy.

Just this year got into miniatures. I am still basically a hex n counter gamer. The Fistful of Lead rules opened the door. Great skirmish rules. I've used Dragon Rampant rules for some larger fights 40+ humans vs 40+ Orcs. Got Lion Rampant 1st, have not used yet. Was aiming for about 60 humans aside. Behind in my painting, but soon hopefully. I'll want to use the 1st edition at least once, before getting the 2nd edition. Excellent video sir

I’d go with Fistful of Lead, Bigger Battles. Great rules, very adaptable and easy to learn and teach. There are a couple of battle reports on the Devon Wargames Group blog.

Alec, the names for various troop type changed with history. So the names will vary between WotR or Hundred Years war and Crusades or Vikings. And as you move through the period War-bands will become Retinues and eventually armies. Interesting video though Alec.

Sure, I don't have a big issue with it, but now it covers a wider time period I think sticking to the new nit name format will work better in the long term. Overall I am happy with the new version.

A well constructed and positive review. I have purchased a set which will be given to me for Christmas (seems to have happened a few times over the years at Christmas with books)...Thanks Alec, regards Lexi.

Good review. Well worth investing in as they are easy to learn and always give a fun game. Plus they are very easy to convert to the ancient period as well.

Thanks for the review. Looking at the Rampant rules having acquired Xenos (I'm a sci fi gamer at heart) but the Lion Rampant rules look like a good entry to historical gaming.

I was new to Lion Rampant but not to the Mersey rules system. I thought the book was very good value and would be useful to existing 1st ed and new players.

I agree. Most people I have spoken to think they are worth the extra cost, so I think they will do well.

Are the first edition crusade and Viking supplements compatible with the new second edition rules or will second edition versions of those books be published in the future? Thanks.

Some of the troop types names have been changed, but it is easy to work out. For example, Mounted Men at Arms from book 1 were changed to Heavy Cavalry in the Crusader States supplement, then to Elite Cavalry in Vikings in the Sun and book 2. I doubt they will be updated and republished, although I am not certain of that. Yes, it is annoying, but it is only a miner inconvenience. 😬
