ronaldo was good this final months. So why should he. deserve. Yes he won the cl and LA liga. But team trophies don't automatically mean a player was god individually. Throughout the whole season, messi was better. Real was better as a team. That's why they won the cl. Yes it was because of ronaldo also but if real had a terrible defense and midfield as barca , do you think they would be in the UCL final? no this season and nobody and I mean nobody can deny this, Ronaldo most of the time waits in the box for a pass. That shows his dependence on real's great midfield and defense( marcelo,etc) While messi save barca . If it wasn't for him, barca would've been in like 4 place.

This year seems to be about nothing more than trophies and publicity, and you can tell because how is it that an INDIVIDUAL award is being awarded to someone who individually didn't play as well as another candidate. As an individual player, you can not deny that Messi has played better in every offensive aspect. So why is it that Ronaldo is winning it? Messi is the reason Barca was 2nd in La Liga while having close to no help from his defense and midfield. The only reason he is rivaling Messi is because he has a more solid team around him, so he scores his little tap-ins and headers. There's no way you can say Messi has not outplayed Ronaldo this season.

Exactly my thoughts. Prizes are given away for every other economic reason rather than football. Ronaldo is such an impressive media figure that is constantly saying he is the best, etc., whereas Messi avoids as much as possible any media interaction. After they saw it was lucrative to invent Messi a rival, they are now seeking to "make them equal" and sell the story of "the greatest battle of football history" or whatever bullshit they wanna make money on.
