@@JohncnIt’s fine, penalties are part of the game. This video doesn’t sum it up. Watching each and every game and seeing him perform is what got us hyped. Sorry if you don’t feel the same but a lot of us really appreciate his world cup and will always remember it.
"The last time a single player was able to carry a whole country was Maradona in 1986, times have changed and these kind of things arent possible in modern football anymore, Maradona was the last and thats one of the reason he is the GOAT" Qatar 2022 "Hello my name is Lionel Messi, watch me"
Mbappe carried France to the World Cup final. We cannot deny that. What pisses me of though is that when Mbappe does it, he’s a prodigy who could potentially be better than Messi. However, when Messi did it between 2014-2016 (Copa Americas and World Cups) he was deemed as another player of great quality and skill. Thats how you know that Messi set the standard too high for himself. Its crazy.
Are you kidding? 75% of this video are penalties 😏 Garrincha, Pelé, Paolo Rossi, Beckenbauer, Romario, Ronaldo ecc dit it better than messi 4/7 goals are penalties, a goalkeeper is able to score 4 penalties on 5 too. Maradona showed The Ultimate Player at his best, any Touch=Magic, just watch Maradona 1986 highlights, its clearly a level messing cant reach jn 1000 years, he was a whole team by himself, unmatched
@@darth10c He had 3 goals and 3 assists (could have easily been double if lautaro martinez was in form) outside of penalties including MOTM in 5/7 games including the final. Penalties alone won’t give you that. Not to mention, he’s marked by entire defence and midfield lines in an era where defence is much more organised. There is nothing wrong in preferring Maradona’s 1986 run, but downplaying Messi’s in 2022 is brainless.
Don't forget off the ball plays and positioning, he did a lot of those to free Alvarez & Co. Too bad Lautaro and Do Maria weren't in best of shape during most of the games, we would've seen way more of Messi.
@@JF10HD For sure mate. Even before this World Cup he was the best. But it's so good that he finally won it. He always wanted this trophy and he made all world happy.
The last penalty vs Lloris was literally the coldest penalty I ever seen since I watch football. It was perfect. He saw Hugo's movement before kicking the ball & got the perfect speed and distance for him not to reach it. THIS PENALTY WAS IN AN WORLD CUP FINAL!
He can't be in this level without hard work, the natural skills doesn't work without hard work, Ronaldinho is a example, that's why he is the GOAT, nearly 16 years at this level, Cristiano and him are examples of longevity
@@shatabdinath4750 I said the number of great goals. Messi had 4 penalty kick goals and even one penalty kick miss. A goal by penalty kick is not a great goal.
Messi is a gift to any football lovers. Seems to play the same way he would in the school playground. I get chills every time he has the ball. Incredible vision, speed, rarely loses the ball, his flair in-front of the goal and always attacking the opponent. Love the player and the man. We witnessed greatness and we should celebrate him as the GOAT.
i would say messi is the biggest person and the biggest icon in 21th centery (2000s) say whatever yall want, name 1 person that had so much impact , inspiration, cultivation of culture as this man for so many milliones!, none. Greatest player since 2007, still the greatest today, and one of the biggest persons. we will talk about messi the next 100-200 years
Just like with Maradona you have a decent Argentina side, but when you ask the question of whether or not they could win the world cup without said "Number 10" the answer is once again an emphatic NO.
LOL messi has 22 goals aganist penaldo and while penaldo has 21 and messi has 16 wins aganist ronaldo and Ronaldo has 11 wins, but if we remove assists from Messi’s goals aganist ronaldo and ronaldo’s goals from messi, messi would still have more goals, while Ronaldo would have little
If you watch the penalty taken at 1:25 w low playback speed it's really hard to guess how or where he's gonna kick the ball until the very last second. It's very impressive.
Spare a thought for Jermaine Jenas who’s commentary for Messi’s second goal in the final will be forever immortalised: ‘Offside’ With the French defender literally behind his own goal line 😂
Bro has won more than 10 league titles, 4 ucl, 1 WC, 1 copa, 7 ballon drs, 2 WC golden balls, if that is not Goated I don’t know what is and if Messi won all matches he lost he would have like 4 copa, 2 wc and prob 6 ucl that is how good and involved he is and would prob have 12 ballon dr if Ronaldo wasn’t born in this era
I have a lot of respect for Messi, but this World Cup performance is so criminally overrated. Take away the penalties and you could make a solid case for Ronaldo’s hat-trick VS Spain in 2018 being greater than Messi’s whole cup run.
Well if you take away penalties Ronaldo would have 3 goals (all in group stage) 0 assists in 4 games in that WC and Messi and Messi 7 games 3 goals and 3 assists, taking away penalties Ronaldo would also have 0 goals in 5 games this World Cup, and Im talking only about stats, Messi's matches were way better talking about dribbling, chances created, accuracy, etc...
Messi fans say Euro tournament is easy to win but to win the WC Argentina fought european teams in the quarter ,semi and final and they beat 2 of them in penalty shootouts even after all the assistance from the refs 🤣🤣
Shame Portugal couldn't even get to penalties against Morrocco... Ronaldo scored in TWO games at the Euros out of 7, he flopped in 4 and missed the final that Eder became clutch. He had the easiest run to the final even after qualifying third in the group. Portugal only won ONE game in normal time. He wasn't even their best player let alone the tournament. Argentina beat last world cup's two finalists - and only someone clutch like Messi can do it.
And lets not even start with his world cup performance, he made the worst XI. His ONLY goal was a penalty from a Bruno dive in 291 minutes and you're talking about referees LOL
Shut the f*ck up, either you don't understand football or just pure jealousy...it's not only about goals or assists, surely Mbappe scored better goals...but it's about the impact, where he is miles ahead of Mbappe still now that's why he got the golden ball. Mbappe Maybe after 17 or 18 years will be able to brake Messi's goal record, but he'll never be able to even touch Messi's standard.
PSG have the worst fans in the world, they booed Zlatan at times and they even booed Messi at times. Awful supporters that boo if they don't win every match 5-0 or more.
Romario in 1994 was far better than Messi in 2022. Romario had 5 great goals. Messi had 2 great goals, 1 tap in, 4 penalty kick goals, plus he missed 1 penalty kick. Messi in 4 world cups was not even close to Romario in Romario's 1 world cup.
@@Maceta444 Well, he has a much higher goal percentage for his national team than Messi, he is much better in penalty kicks thank Messi, he is much better at volleys and half volleys then Messi, he is slightly better at chip shots than Messi, he is better at outside foot shot than Messi, he has a much better header than Messi, he is just as good in ball control as Messi, he is just as good a passer as Messi. His opposite foot shot is at least as good as Messi. The only thing Messi is better than Romario is dribbling and shooting outside the box.
@@z3ll345 In the1994 world cup, R9 and Ronaldinho werent on team. And Cafu didnt do anything on those 5 goals by Romario. Romario was great without all 3.
@@EarthwalkerEst Some people try to detract from Argentina because "there were dubious penalties" or because they won by scoring penalties, the truth is that Argentina deserved to win. Before when Messi missed penalties people made fun of him, now that he scored penalties they still criticize him
This comment is so retarded, how can they be the first team to have the most penalties? Who held the record before? Argentina deserved it more than the french they played shit 75% of the world cup
Lol more than half of his goals were penalties 🤔🤔🤔. Just an observation, sure there will be a few kids saying oh you just a Messi hater. Btw that France Vs Argentina final was rigged and you know it. You just too biased coz you support Messi.
No it was not rigged France had a weakened team and only MBappe was playing his heart out, also they are a younger team and they lost on penalties how is it rigged when you miss?, France did nothing for the first half and one man carried the team. It was not rigged, stop making excuses for missed penalties and mistakes. France was absent, they could have won and I was betting on them but they threw it away. They will be back next time IMO Mbappe will get another WC win I feel.
